When shooting this set of photos for Reze from Chainsaw Man, that line "Run away with me... please" kept echoing in my mind. As a highly charismatic character in the Chainsaw Man arcs, the contradictory sense of falsehood and truth interwoven within Reze is the core that I wanted to focus on restoring for this cosplay.
In terms of costume and wig preparation, I stayed as close as possible to the classic design. The short, messy purple hair was paired with blue-green colored contacts to capture that detached and crisp gaze. The white shirt combined with a black pinafore dress, a necktie, and over-the-knee socks, topped off with a pair of thick-soled black leather shoes—the overall black-and-white color scheme is clean and sharp, while also carrying a bit of her detachment as the Bomb Devil. This time, I specially chose small daisies as props because, in the manga plot, they symbolize that brief yet deeply memorable piece of history between Reze and Denji.
The lighting on the day of the shoot was fantastic. The afternoon sun cast even, striped shadows through the white railings, and this high-contrast natural light is perfect for creating Atmospheric photography. In terms of composition, besides full-body shots and establishing the environment, I really love the close-up shots. The slightly textured look of the wig when the wind blows through it, combined with the softness of the small daisies, beautifully merges the coldness and fragility in her character setting. Since the original description says "Every single word was false, yet teaching me how to swim was real; the final coldheartedness was also false, yet keeping the cafe rendezvous was real," I hope this set of photos can freeze that summer regret exclusive to Reze through an Outdoor portrait.
The makeup focused heavily on the depiction of the eye makeup. By deepening the eyeshadow contours and emphasizing the extension of the eyelashes, the gaze looks more focused and tells more of a story. The wig was specially handled with fluffiness and airiness during daily styling to reduce the heavy feel, making it adapt to the outdoor natural light effects. The whole process was incredibly fun to shoot. While portraying Reze, I was also trying to step into her inner world, to understand her helplessness as a "country mouse" bound by fate. The outfit coordination and scenes all matched the character's clean, sharp, yet slightly mclancholy undertone, and I hope this set of photos can present the Reze in everyone's heart wandering through the world of Chainsaw Man.
