Putting on this red-and-white velvet costume, I instantly entered the exclusive atmosphere of Honor of Kings Diaochan cosplay's Christmas Love Song. As a coser who frequently tries out various kinds of roleplay, this classic festive skin has always been something I really wanted to challenge. The passion of Christmas red combined with Diaochan's own gentle and agile temperament brings both the joy of the festival and the elegance of the character. For today's photoset, I specially chose a vintage red velvet background and a matching carved sofa, hoping to maximize the texture of this costume under the warm yellow light and shadow.
What attracted me most about the costume were those golden star patterns and the fluffy hood. Complemented by over-the-knee boots and white bowknot embellishments, the overall visual effect is exceptionally rich. During the shoot, I tried two different states: one is a playful feeling of lightly touching my lips with a finger, and the other is a gentle, slightly spaced-out look while holding a small fan, hoping to capture Diaochan's subtle expressions in different scenarios.
A lot of thought also went into the set layout. Besides the main stage curtains and the sofa, the scattered white gift boxes on the floor, red ribbons, vintage picture frames, and that cute white plush rabbit all made the frame's sense of storytelling more complete. Although moving around indoors in a short skirt and long boots to adjust angles was a physical workout, seeing the warm winter atmosphere presented through the lens made it feel completely worth it.
To match the character, the makeup intentionally retained a soft, fuzzy eye look and a warm-toned red lip. Paired with fluffy brown curls, it looks exceptionally full of life under the outline of the light. I've always believed that cosplay is not just about putting on clothes, but more about transmitting the character's emotions in a specific scene to the audience. Therefore, during the cosplay photography session, I kept imagining her standing in a night full of snowflakes and colored lights, welcoming her own surprise in a cozy cabin.
This "Christmas Love Song" outfit holds the youth memories of many people and is also one of the highly popular series in Honor of Kings. I hope my interpretation this time allows everyone to feel that unique winter romance in the photos. Maintaining character accuracy and polishing details are what I always stick to as a coser. Behind this Christmas theme cosplay photoset are repeated lighting tests and composition adjustments, all just to leave the most natural state in front of the camera.
