[Reze Cosplay] That Splash of Purple Hair in Chainsaw Man, Recording Time in the Flowers

This look has actually been in preparation for a while. The white sleeveless shirt paired with a black bowtie, high-waisted short skirt, and over-the-knee black silk stockings creates exceptionally clean and crisp lines, which is also a very iconic outfit for Reze in my mind. The weather was great on the day of the shoot; sunlight filtered through the clouds, providing soft and even lighting, just right for setting up the scene in front of the lawn and yellow wild flower field.
Because I wanted to highlight the character's casual everyday feel that is both slightly lazy and a bit cool, I didn't choose complex movements. I just sat naturally on the grass, leaning my body back slightly, supporting myself with one hand on the ground, while the other hand casually rested by the side of my face. This angle perfectly showcases the bowtie and neck lines, while the extension of the legs forms a very comfortable visual projection. The photographer, Mu Bai, had excellent control over the light; the large aperture blurred the background's yellow flowers and green grass into soft color blocks, keeping the visual focus steadily on the person without looking cluttered.
During the shoot, there were actually some small bugs and dew in the grass. Not long after sitting down, my tights got some grass debris on them, but to achieve the most natural atmospheric vibe, it was all worth it. We tried switching between several camera positions and finally selected this relatively close-up composition because it clearly shows the makeup details—the green contacts in the eye makeup pairing with the purple hair, and the pleated texture of the bowtie. In the second picture, the character's proportions are fuller and the facial emotion is just right, making it most suitable for the cover page.
When I first came into contact with the work Chainsaw Man, I was attracted by Reze's traits of being both mysterious and tinged with tragedy. She seems casual but actually has her own persistence. This contrast in personality can be delivered through such everyday apparel. Instead of deliberately pursuing grand scenes for this shoot, we chose outdoor natural light, which I feel fits the character's sense of loneliness floating outside the main storyline perfectly. Furthermore, the greatest joy of outdoor photography is capturing real light and shadow changes; the wind blowing through the hair tips and the swaying grass leaves all add a breathing feel to the frame.
Speaking of the clothing coordination, the fabric of the white shirt is relatively crisp and stiff, not easily wrinkled, forming a stark contrast with the black bowtie. For the black silk stockings, I chose a slightly sheer style, allowing natural skin tones to show through under the sun, which looks more breathable visually and not rigid. The shoes are round-toe lace-up leather shoes, whose vintage style matches the overall uniform feel beautifully. Actually, before the shoot, I specially re-trimmed the bangs of the wig, because the casual yet fluffy feel of Reze's hairstyle is crucial; if it's slightly too long or too thick, it will look too well-behaved, and it needs to just expose the eyes and brows to hit the right note.
For post-processing, we mainly adjusted the color temperature and brightness to make the skin tone clearer, the grass greener, and the flowers brighter, but preserved a portion of the natural texture without over-smoothing the skin. I think the biggest difference between official cosplay photos and daily photo-taking lies in precise character traits, while the photography itself must also possess a high aesthetic standard. Huge thanks to Mu Bai for helping me capture such a relaxed state; it isn't a rigid pose but truly feels like the character resting in a flower field during a certain afternoon.
The entire process from costume preparation and hair/makeup design to outdoor location scouting took about a week. Actually, many details cannot be seen in the official photos. For instance, to find the right balance for this sitting pose, I repeatedly tried the position of my center of gravity several times, because it needed to make the character look comfortable while ensuring that the leg lines and body curves were optimal in front of the lens. I'm quite satisfied with this selected set of pictures in this piece of Anime cosplay. I hope this work allows everyone to feel the character's calm and composed temperament, and can also provide some reference for friends who love outdoor cosplay photography; natural light and minimalist apparel are truly great for photo outputs for this Flower field portrait.
