When shooting Liberalio (Liberalio cosplay, Goddess of Victory: Nikke), the greatest challenge was how to sculpt that aloof, mechanical presence into a three-dimensional form against a pure-white backdrop. From costume pattern-making to wig styling, pre-production required extensive communication with the team. I selected a pale purple wig tinged with grey, styling the fibers to look airy without appearing frizzy. The curvatures of the twin tails and braids were adjusted repeatedly; once integrated with the embossed white headpiece on my forehead, the foundation of the Sci-fi style cosplay aesthetic was established.
For makeup, red-toned contact lenses were worn to sharpen the gaze, while eyeshadow and blush were enriched with pink hues to echo the character's temperament. Because the costume is predominantly white, if the facial makeup doesn't anchor the palette, the face easily looks flat under harsh studio strobes. The base makeup had to remain impeccably clean and translucent, complemented by elongated eyeliner and natural soft-pink lips, directing visual focus straight to the expression in the eyes.
The wardrobe was a true test of craftsmanship. The entire outfit is crafted from white form-fitting material, outlined along the edges with black pinstripes and dainty black bows, with the geometric motif of intertwined purple and black on the chest serving as the visual focal point. To preserve the crisp rigidity of this structure, multiple internal supports were built in. The sleeves are semi-sheer white puff sleeves; while they somewhat restricted arm mobility once worn, I adapted to them as best as possible for visual fidelity. For the lower half, the white pantyhose used in this White tights cosplay was chosen with balanced opacity—both providing coverage and evening out skin tone—which, paired with chunky platform heels, naturally elongated the leg line. Geometric cutouts and printed patterns along the stockings revealed dynamic visual dimensions as I walked and posed.
The first set was shot in an all-white cyclorama. Sitting on the steps with one hand raised and my body leaning back, the photographer cast side lighting to bring out the folds of the skirt and the sheer transparency of the sleeves. The composition was expansive and relaxed, capturing that ethereal serenity of a pure white sanctuary. Between takes, I also experimented with high-angle overhead shots and half-veiling my face with a sleeve, chasing moments where languor and enigma intertwine.
Transitioning to the second indoor setup, the backdrop shifted to wooden flooring and a black grand piano. Warm ambient light bathed my face, creating a sharp chiaroscuro contrast against the black lines traced across the white garments. This environment was perfect for quieter, intimate close-ups—such as lightly adjusting the choker around my neck or gazing into the lens—capturing subtle emotional nuances. Donning this full gear was physically taxing: the voluminous sleeves and high heels demanded extreme caution with every pose shift, especially while maintaining an effortless, aloof composure without letting fatigue show, testing my core strength throughout.
To bring out the authentic texture of the garments, we carefully screened fabrics in advance, swapping out overly reflective finishes in favor of matte and delicately textured textiles. The white square frame and geometric props were repeatedly checked for optimal angles during the shoot. As someone who loves diving into photoshoot details, seeing the light and shadow fall across the fabric and the gleam in the eyes makes all the preliminary efforts deeply worthwhile. Exploring two entirely different lighting ambiances offered a truly multifaceted record of this Goddess of Victory cosplay look.
