[Sandrone Cosplay] The Puppet Girl in a Vintage study

This shoot featured Sandrone from Genshin Impact, widely known as "The Marionette." The intricate complexity of the costume design far exceeded expectations. To faithfully recreate this character, the outfit incorporated abundant ruffles, lace, sleeve covers adorned with star-patterned detailing, and a sheer red shawl. Putting it on and taking it off was remarkably tedious; especially the layered sleeve covers on the arms and the embellishments at the neckline required considerable time to position properly. To present the best possible look on camera, I specifically paired it with white tights—this form-fitting material for White tights cosplay places high demands on leg shape, but thankfully the resulting visuals turned out fantastic.

A great deal of care also went into staging the environment. We selected a studio featuring a vintage wooden desk and wall-to-wall bookshelves. On the desk rested an antique rotary telephone, a globe, and a vintage clock, which, illuminated by warm yellow lighting, established the mysterious ambiance of an aristocratic Vintage study. To naturally showcase the character's inherent grace and physique, photographer Takyi Qiyue guided me to sit atop the desk. This seated pose not only elongated the leg lines to highlight the visual allure of the white tights, but also showcased the tiered volume of the skirt hem. Because white tights can be prone to glare, we had to monitor lighting angles vigilantly during this Cosplay photography session, continually refining postures to balance details across both face and legs. Leaving my feet bare and suspended naturally added a subtle inorganic detachment quintessential to a doll.

Throughout the shoot, alongside conveying the character's tsundere reserve and aloofness, specific gestures were crucial—such as holding an exquisite teacup while directing an inorganic, icy gaze toward the camera. Although maintaining the same posture for prolonged periods to avoid wrinkling the skirt folds was physically taxing, seeing the final photos made every effort worthwhile. The visual atmosphere seamlessly married retro charm with mystique, fittingly evoking a solitary sense of waiting. In harmony with her character lore, it truly felt as though she were waiting to chat with an old tea-loving friend. The tactile presence of the props and costume nuances came through vividly, lending the collection lasting visual appeal.

Beyond pre-shoot preparation, packing and care following the shoot were just as essential. Given the massive hem, taking off the costume demanded caution to prevent snagging the delicate lace. Overall, Sandrone's design holds immense aesthetic power, merging cool elegance with rich complexity and opulence. This shoot was both a challenge for costuming and props and great training for physical expression. While capturing full-body and close-up frames took substantial time, the resulting silhouettes and visual impact fully maximized the exquisite, grand allure of the puppet.
