[Rimuru cosplay] Worldline of the Slime King: Shoot Log for Set 1

Part 1 of the first set from Worldline is finally wrapped! This time I brought Rimuru to life, the beloved Slime King from That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime. To be honest, I felt quite uncertain when preparing this shoot: a slime's concept is so unique, and figuring out how to channel that genderless, all-embracing essence through a human form was a core focal point the photographer and I deliberated over extensively. I served as both the model and the retoucher for this project. To honor Rimuru's visual signature, I deliberately selected a crisp white blouse laden with tiered ruffles and puff sleeves, accented at the collar by a black ribbon bow and paired with tailored black shorts. The Blue wig featured an intensely saturated bright azure; I trimmed the bangs repeatedly to capture that soft, slightly disheveled fluffiness. Paired with amber contact lenses and a clear, translucent complexion, I aimed to hint at an otherworldly, non-human quality. The Studio shoot was staged in a rental studio where light stands, reflectors, and bustling staff remained visible in the background. A plush white faux-fur rug was spread across the floor within an overall cool-toned ambient setup. Dressed in White over-the-knee socks and chunky black platform boots, I sat cross-legged on the rug. Nailing the posture was deceptively tricky: capturing the effortless, languid ease unique to a slime meant avoiding any hint of rigid stiffness. In the first shot, I rested my folded hands between my legs, tilting my chin slightly up toward the lens to convey a calm, subtly detached gaze. In the second frame, I propped my elbow against my knee to rest my chin in hand—a posture that introduced a gentle diagonal lean for a more relaxed mood. It was quite chilly during the shoot, and sitting for long periods in a breezy blouse and over-knee socks inside an air-conditioned studio was a real physical test. I retouched makeup several times to preserve wig structure and foundation freshness. The photographer continuously shifted lighting angles to accentuate transparency within the eyes. The crisp contrast between White over-the-knee socks and black boots stood out sharply against the cool-toned background while visually elongating leg proportions. While these appear as simple seated stills, every micro-detail—from styling and wig crafting to on-set posture adjustments and light balancing—demanded deep care. For me, cosplaying is far more than donning clothes for photos; it is an exploration of inhabiting a character's state of being. Rimuru appears as an adorable youth on the surface, yet harbors immense inner strength. Thus, through my gaze and poise, I strove to balance outward gentleness with inner resilience. This set is merely the opening chapter, with more conceptual shoots planned ahead. Despite the fatigue, seeing the completed frames validated every bit of effort. Translating one's creative vision through the lens is deeply fulfilling. Moving forward, I will continue polishing details, experimenting with varied camera angles, and exploring new environments. This session provided valuable experience—such as utilizing small props to enrich framing within confined spaces, and regulating breath to keep expressions organic.
