[Kirisame Marisa cosplay] Touhou Project Chengdu Worldline Animation and Comic Exhibition Convention Photos

This set of Kirisame Marisa convention photos comes from the Chengdu Worldline Animation and Comic Exhibition. The costume adopts the classic black, white, and gold color scheme. On the head is a black wide-brimmed witch hat bordered with white lace and gold piping. The hair consists of long golden wavy locks styled into two long braids. The top is a white ruffled long-sleeve blouse with a large black-and-gold bow at the collar, layered under a black vest adorned with gold buttons. The skirt features a two-tier construction: an outer black layer featuring subtle butterfly jacquard patterns with gold piping, and an inner white lace petticoat complemented by a white lace apron tied at the waist. On the legs are white over-the-knee socks paired with glossy black Mary Jane leather shoes. The prop is a curved magical staff wrapped in golden cord, topped with white feathers and star ornaments, and ending with broom bristles at the base, merging the functions of a flying broom and a wizard's wand.

The shoot took place in an outdoor plaza with glass curtain walls and gray pillars in the background. The natural light that day was soft and diffused. To showcase the garment's silhouette and leg contours, various poses were incorporated. In photo two, I posed balancing on one leg while holding the hat brim with one hand and the staff with the other, accentuating the visual contrast between the white socks and black shoes. Photo four captured a forward-leaning angle looking straight into the lens, allowing the skirt to flare naturally and emphasizing its layered depth.

For makeup, pink contact lenses were paired with reddish eyeshadow and long false eyelashes to achieve a doll-like appearance. To match the character's spirited personality, the movements were planned to stay lively and dynamic. Many details demanded attention during shooting: white over-the-knee socks get dirty easily, requiring clean tiled pavement to move around. The vest was structured and rigid, contouring the waistline nicely, while the stiff petticoat ensured ample skirt flare. The prop staff had noticeable weight, fatiguing the arm after a while and requiring postural shifts to maintain balance. The hat was fairly large, demanding frequent adjustments to avoid casting harsh shadows over my face.

With heavy crowds on the day of the convention, we scouted a relatively open spot to keep the background clear. The photographer utilized a wide aperture to blur out background distractions and make the character pop. The primary goal was to bring out the authentic charm of the character, maintaining a mischievous, vibrant expression alongside the styling. The outer black skirt and inner white lace generated sharp color transitions in motion, creating intense visual contrast, while the golden wig revealed wonderful texture under the sunlight. Cosplaying Touhou Project's Kirisame Marisa this time was immensely satisfying, and I am glad to document these insights and details from the shoot.
