[Takanashi Hoshino cosplay] Blue Archive: Daily Life of the Pink-Haired Kitty

Today's shoot centered on Takanashi Hoshino from Blue Archive, taking about a week from initial concept prep to finalizing the proofs. For the wardrobe, I chose an oversized white hoodie styled with an off-the-shoulder drape to capture her uninhibited, pleasantly sleepy vibe. Down below, I paired it with pink athletic shorts and these White over-the-knee socks. I specifically picked a semi-sheer fabric for the socks—solid, dense white easily blows out under studio strobes, whereas a subtly sheer weave preserves the nuanced contours of the leg lines.

The wig was a soft pastel pink; while trimming and feathering the fibers, I focused on the bangs and lateral layers to give it that tousled, fluffy 'just woke up' texture. The plush Cat ears mounted atop the head were the true soul of the look, anchored firmly through the wig and hairnet with bobby pins to keep them steady during movement. The trickiest element was her pink halo prop: I rigged a transparent fishing line alongside fine wire to suspend it over the crown, which required dialing in specific camera angles to keep the suspension invisible and make the halo appear truly floating.

In makeup, the base was kept porcelain white with generous washes of pink blush swept across the cheeks and under-eye area, accented by vivid blue circle lenses to make the gaze pop. The most time-consuming task was actually the manicure—sculpting pointed cat-claw silhouettes on extended nail extensions meant moving with extreme caution when adjusting props or touching the face to avoid poking the eyes.

The shooting setup was wonderfully minimalistic: a seamless solid backdrop lit by softboxes. I brought a white square plush pillow as a cozy prop; cradling it naturally introduced a gentle compression against the torso, effortlessly conveying an intimate, relaxed loungewear mood for the camera. Posing-wise, I drew inspiration from feline mannerisms—brushing the back of a hand against the cheek, stretching lazily, and closing my eyes in a pretend nap. To capture pristine catchlights within the pupils, the photographer and I repeatedly calibrated the distance of the key lights, giving the blue iris contacts a crystalline, translucent glow in the final edits.

Overall, the color grading leaned into low-saturation cool pinks, ash greys, and crisp whites. Post-processing avoided heavy stylized filters, focusing instead on preserving raw skin texture and authentic fabric folds. A few shots feature closed eyes, and I adore that serene, unpretentious stillness. Visually, the core focus remained anchored on the cohesive synergy between the Cat ears, the jingling bell choker, and the over-the-knee socks. Packing up after the shoot, I noticed some foundation powder had transferred onto the wig fringe—definitely applying a heavier layer of setting spray next time!
