The set for this swimsuit Convention photo shoot was constructed indoors. A vast expanse of blue drapery was used for the backdrop to simulate the seaside, while the floor was lined with reflective water-ripple fabric, working alongside the lighting to produce a glistening aquatic surface effect. The prop crew prepared wooden folding beach loungers, a blue-and-white striped parasol, an inflatable swim ring, and palm leaves—keeping the overall composition anchored in a cool-toned palette of blue and white that resonates seamlessly with the character's ambiance.
Regarding hair and makeup, to capture the character's aura, the wig was deliberately layered and trimmed, while the white mechanical interface headpieces received a subtle weathered treatment. For eye makeup, crimson contact lenses served as the visual anchor; the foundation was kept sheer and luminous, complemented by glossy red lips to accentuate a pale, porcelain complexion. I wore a classic dark one-piece swimsuit trimmed with white piped edging—a style that is simple yet demanding of bodily contours and physical poise.
Lighting throughout the shoot was crucial. To cultivate a natural summer indoor daylight feel, the key light utilized an oversized softbox positioned from a high three-quarter angle to keep facial lighting smooth and even, while blue reflectors filled the shadows with ambient environmental color. Because the character naturally carries an innate sense of detachment, the photographer advised keeping my gaze tranquil—no need to actively cater to the lens, simply facing the camera in an organic, unforced state of mind.
In pose design, we explored diverse stances to enrich the series. The frame reclining on the lounge chair with bent knees required slightly angling the knees to elongate leg lines, while gently pointing the toes to flatter full-body proportions. When leaning over the swim ring, the elbows needed precise anchoring, and shoulders had to sink and relax to avoid hunching that would visually shorten the neck. For the three-quarter glance looking back over the shoulder, engaging the core and straightening the spine allowed the natural curve of the back to emerge gracefully.
The greatest asset of studio shooting is the precise control over lighting and backdrops, though it simultaneously calls for greater imagination to immerse into the setting. Between takes, I continually adjusted the wig and swimsuit contours to ensure every shot was captured at its best. This set strives to freeze that rare slice of summer indolence and tranquility for the character—stripped of intricate plotlines, simply resting peacefully within her own blue haven.
