For this shoot, a Hong Kong street setting was selected as the backdrop to complement the rock band theme concept. The yellow taxi, cracked front windshield, and the GAME BOY signage in the background formed a complete street narrative feel. During the shoot, colliding the character's cool-toned blue-gray outfit with the warm yellow car body created a striking visual contrast. Many details in the Vintage style outfit were tailored to fit the concept: metallic buckles, a blue cap, red straps, and Anime white stockings. Pairing the over-the-knee white stockings with red leg rings accentuated the leg lines beautifully. The contrast between the Anime white stockings and the blue jacket made the character look more vibrant, giving both standing and seated poses greater dimension. We experimented with two different vibes during shooting: one quietly hugging a black cat with legs dangling down, and the other sitting on the hood with crossed legs for a more commanding aura. Ultimately, sitting cross-legged not only accentuated body contours, but also fit the rebellious spirit of a rock band much better. The photographer utilized on-site traffic lights and background neon signs for depth-of-field effects, giving the frames a cinematic quality. We encountered small challenges along the way—such as maintaining stability while sitting on the hood while controlling facial expressions and posture. The cracked windshield was deliberately styled, carrying an unconventional wasteland texture that aligned seamlessly with the Hong Kong style street snap neon atmosphere. For makeup and styling, we faithfully recreated the character's classic features from Neon Genesis Evangelion—such as light blue short hair and crimson eyes—while incorporating avant-garde rock elements into the outfit, allowing this classic character to radiate fresh visual tension against a novel backdrop. The entire set struck a fine balance between polished portraiture and authentic raw energy, merging the character's cool detachment with urban street vitality. Seeing the raw photos after shooting, the harmony between the style and environment exceeded expectations, making this a visually impactful set to share. Communication was smooth throughout, leading to a successful shoot. Subsequent post-processing mainly focused on balancing vintage saturation and neon contrast, allowing perimeter bokeh to naturally highlight the subject. Finding my center of gravity on the car took considerable time; numerous posture adjustments were required especially to elongate the leg lines. Heading out in this outfit drew high turn-head rates, with passersby watching all around. The final photos turned out ideal—simple compositions paired with intricate background elements delivered a cyberpunk feel while preserving the purity of vintage streetscapes. This fresh attempt revealed even more possibilities for the character; even posed beside motorcycles or billboards, this outfit felt completely cohesive. Overall, from garment textures to environmental light and shadow harmony, everything reached the envisioned state of perfection.
