[Chunyang cosplay] JX3 17th Anniversary Chengdu Event Recap

The JX3 17th Anniversary 828 Chengdu sub-venue event has wrapped up, so here is a quick recap of my Chunyang cosplay and all the amazing loot! I cosplayed the Chunyang sect this time and put a lot of thought into the makeup and styling; the white outfit accented with blue details created an ethereal, cool aesthetic. Since the mall's air conditioning was running high, walking around indoors in this outfit was actually quite comfortable, though the intricate headpiece and wig styling were definitely heavy, leaving my neck a bit sore after wearing them all day.

The offline event was bustling with people. I took several Polaroid photos in front of the giant yellow smiley-face sculpture outside the mall—in this digital age of smartphone cameras, these retro physical prints feel especially memorable. For my selfie (Photo 1), holding the tanghulu prop I bought made for a great photo pairing.

The biggest surprise this time was all the free fan-made goodies (Photos 2 to 5)—a whole table packed with badges, acrylic stands, postcards, laser tickets, keychains, and even assorted candies, snacks, and hilarious smiley stickers. Some fellow fans crafted exquisitely detailed embroidered patches and metal pins, while others made practical little bowls and chopsticks, and some even created hyper-realistic faux receipts and commemorative coins. This pile of merch represents the passion and hard work of the community, and stuffing my entire backpack full gave me a huge sense of accomplishment. Organizing everything afterward reminded me that the true magic of offline events lies in this joy of swapping freebies and connecting with fellow fans face-to-face.

From a cosplay experience standpoint, I'd recommend prepping lubricating eye drops in advance whenever portraying characters that require colored contacts and heavy wigs, and definitely wearing comfortable shoes with soft soles—after all, you do a tremendous amount of walking at an all-day event. Even though my legs were aching from walking in the heavy layers, seeing everyone recognize each other with such warmth made every bit of effort worth it. This Chengdu stop was truly an unforgettable harvest of fan goodies, and I'm excited to share these JX3 Chunyang event photos with you all.
