The Cosplay fitting for Butterfly Dream Duffy from Brown Dust 2 has wrapped up, and here is the documented process. The core garment centers around a red cape with gold thread embroidery, featuring great drape and luster; however, its firmer texture tended to catch on the skirt hem when walking indoors, so I deliberately adjusted my stride while trying it on. The inner gown, made of a reflective silver-blue fabric, casts a unique metallic sheen under pink ambient indoor lighting—which was precisely why I chose this room for shooting. The cutout design along the waist demands an upright posture to showcase its best silhouette, so I spent considerable time fine-tuning my stance in front of the mirror. The Animal ears accessory on my head was lightweight and stayed secure, though the dangling tassels at the crown often drifted into my line of sight; I secured them tighter so they wouldn't interfere with photos. The embroidered circular fan felt solid and tactile in hand, though holding it aloft grew tiring, so I rested it near the shoe rack between breaks.
For the lower half, I paired sheer White stockings with vibrant red pointed-toe stilettos, beautifully blending skin tones under directional light while noticeably elongating leg lines. Because the gown features an exaggerated high slit, preventing wardrobe malfunctions required constant awareness of leg movements; cross-legged stances or poses shifting body weight proved both safe and flattering for leg extension, making them my favorite angles from this fitting. For makeup, reddish-brown eyeshadow and lip colors were chosen to harmonize with the brownish-red wig. The shoot relied simply on a phone mounted to a tripod. Throughout the fitting, I smoothed down the golden embroidery on the cape repeatedly to ensure clean lines. The costume carries numerous intricate details—frogs on the shoulders, golden waist ornaments, and edge tassels—each requiring individual checks, making donning and doffing take longer than anticipated. Fortunately, the final visual came together seamlessly: the silver-blue gown, White stockings, red heels, and crimson cape formed a harmonious palette under warm lighting, hitting the intended look without heavy retouching.
