[Rem cosplay] Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- Zhanjiang Comic Convention Event photo delivery

Today, the Event photo delivery from the Zhanjiang Yunxige Comic Convention has finally been organized. This time I'm cosplaying Rem, the classic maid outfit from Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-. For this convention, I got up at 6 AM to start doing my makeup. The base makeup pursued a clean and translucent look, and the eye makeup focused on depicting Rem's signature droopy eyes. After wearing light blue contact lenses, the visual accuracy improved a lot. The wig was trimmed and styled in advance; the bangs and the curve of the sideburns were adjusted several times, and stray hairs were fixed with hairspray to ensure it wouldn't look frizzy in front of the lens. To fit the character, the blush was applied a bit lower to create a sense of innocence.
In terms of clothing, the details of this black and white maid outfit are extremely rich. The chest straps and the white ruffled apron both need to be carefully worn, and the bell-shaped lace at the cuffs also needs to be arranged layer by layer, otherwise it easily deforms during movement. To ensure the shooting effect, I wore white over-the-knee Stockings. The black line embellishments at the edge of the stockings were a specially chosen style, and the material is also very important—it must be non-reflective and fit the leg lines so it won't look bulky under the lights. Paired with black glossy thick-heeled Mary Jane high heels, although the heels aren't particularly high, in an occasion like a comic convention that requires long hours of standing and walking, balance and physical stamina remain huge tests.
The shooting location was chosen in a relatively open area inside the exhibition hall. Overhead was a complex metal truss structure, with huge glass windows in the background. This industrial-style scene combined with natural light provided a great rim light for the subject. I stood on a white oval display stand, lifting the skirt hem with my left hand and raising my right hand slightly bent close to my cheek. This posture is actually a big test of core strength, as supporting the center of gravity on one leg while maintaining an upright upper body and expression management is tough. To display a better posture, I would slightly move my neck and shoulders between shots to avoid affecting my standing posture due to wearing high heels for a long time.
Photographer Twilight is very good at capturing light, shadow, and dynamics, and kept guiding me to adjust angles during the shoot, trying to capture the layers of the skirt and the sense of lines of the Stockings. The natural light of the exhibition hall filtered through the glass windows, shining on the black skirt hem and white lace, creating a very distinct contrast. We tried a few different focal lengths on-site, and finally selected this composition that can balance full-body action details and facial expressions. The environment at the convention site was a bit noisy; although there were architectural structures in the background, the overall look was clean and translucent without extra clutter interfering with the view.
The overall tone of these Event photo delivery was post-processed to be bright and clean, without overly exaggerated color grading, preserving the original texture of the costume. With many people and noise at the convention site, it wasn't easy to find a suitable camera position and clean light in the gaps, so I'm very grateful for the photographer's patient guidance and post-processing. Judging from the final photos, the costume detail display and character posture expression both reached the expected results. Being able to present a favorite character in this form and communicate with fellow fans is the happiest thing about attending comic conventions. In fact, every time I wear this kind of clothing with a lot of lace and straps, my biggest worry is loosening or deformation on-site. So before setting out, I specially prepared safety pins and a sewing kit just in case. Although these high heels look great in photos, walking around the venue in them is quite exhausting, so before going on stage I tried to walk as little as possible to keep my feet in good shape. To restore the character's classic demeanor, I also practiced a lot in expression management: eyes slightly drooped, corners of the mouth with a hint of subtle focus. Today at the venue, I also met many other great cosers, and everyone helped each other tidy up clothes and wigs. This atmosphere is truly wonderful.
