[Taihou Cosplay] Changing into Azur Lane's JK School Uniform: Recording Lazy Afternoon Classroom Moments

For this Taihou JK school-themed photoshoot, what I wanted to capture was not rigid combat imagery, but rather a more relaxed, everyday afternoon classroom scene. Speaking of Azur Lane, everyone is likely familiar with Taihou; her unique aura can actually be expressed through many different styles. Instead of opting for Taihou's classic rigging outfit, I tried a school Taihou JK look this time, aiming to interpret her feel from a fresh perspective. Regarding the overall styling, I selected a basic white button-down shirt as an inner layer, paired with a small black bow tie, overlaid with a red-and-yellow tracksuit jacket. For the bottom, it was naturally a classic black pleated skirt paired with sheer black tights—an element in JK fashion that excels at highlighting body proportions. As for hair, I went with short black hair featuring straight bangs, carefully styling the cowlick strand on top to match deep eye makeup, aligning closer with Taihou's subtly mysterious charm. A pair of thin-framed glasses served as a prop, adding an intellectual yet slightly playful atmosphere to this set. The shooting process was actually quite rushed.

This time, we directly found an empty classroom as our setting—a clean space with great natural light. The second image features a sitting pose at a school desk, legs crossed, using a low-angle shot to capture that languid perspective. Sunlight angled in through the grid window; the hand gestures weren't complex, yet paired with light and shadow, creating an atmospheric ambiance was easy. For the first image, I chose to stand beside the desk leaning forward, making the whole posture appear thoroughly casual. The photographer utilized strong side light from outside the window to bring sunlight into the classroom, creating sharp light-shadow boundaries on the floor and desks, adding an afternoon languor filter effect to the frame. To complement this everyday yet slightly aloof feel, I kept my facial expression neutral with relaxed eyes rather than forcing a smile, allowing movements to stay natural.

The clothing design itself strongly emphasizes tailoring and proportions. The white shirt was tailored with a slightly loose fit, yet to maintain refinement, adjustments were made around the collar so that paired with the black bow tie, visual focus centers on the collarbone and neckline. Draping the jacket over shoulders versus wearing it fully conveys two distinct auras: wearing it yields a model-student vibe, whereas slinging it over shoulders leans toward casual freedom. For makeup, the base was kept pristine, focusing heavily on eyeshadow application—using deep earth tones blended with a touch of dark crimson—giving the eyes an alluring, expressive gaze that aligns flawlessly with Taihou's persona.

The venue offered ample creative room; because the setting is grounded in daily life, the resulting shots avoid a heavy sense of distance, feeling instead like small slices of school life. In this photoset, elements like the jacket, bow tie, and black tights are all classic. The photo sitting at the desk with legs crossed unexpectedly highlighted the character's unique blend of languid and subtly scrutinizing charm. Although shooting time wasn't overly long, we captured essentially all desired moods. I believe that for Taihou from Azur Lane, expressing her via JK school style doesn't require rigidly duplicating exaggerated anime poses; placing her aura in an everyday context actually reveals a distinct image combining cuteness and sensuality. Cosplay photography is often not merely about imitation, but expressing one's personal understanding of the character. Taihou possesses a unique allure in-game, and capturing that essence in real-world shooting through wardrobe, lighting, and movement makes the process truly meaningful.
