Today, I finally brought Firefly's doujin maid outfit to the Shanghai JG Anime & Itasha Carnival! Ever since receiving this costume, I was looking forward to this shoot: the contrasting blend of brown and peacock blue, complete with a crisp white apron and yellow bows, perfectly captures my vision of Firefly—gently mysterious, tender, and undeniably adorable. For this look, I specially prepared a light silver-grey long wavy wig with blunt bangs and styled side tendrils to recreate that signature anime hair flow. In terms of makeup, blue-purple shifting contact lenses paired with a touch of soft pink blush aimed to bring out Firefly's delicate, girlish innocence.

This maid dress is packed with details. The top features a white base with black buttons, and the black lace trimming along the neckline adds a subtle hint of allure, while the yellow neckerchief serves as the perfect finishing touch. The loose brown lantern sleeves are made from a relatively substantial fabric, which proved ideal for an outdoor convention venue with noticeable breezes. The skirt is hands-down my favorite part, boasting a three-tier design: a white ruffled hem on top, a peacock-blue pleated layer in the middle flanked by oversized yellow bows, and a bottom layer of white lace and sheer tulle that sways softly with every step, creating delightful movement and depth.

For the lower half, I paired sheer Black stockings with glossy platform Mary Janes. While walking around the outdoor convention asphalt in these was a bit tiring, the photographic results were incredible. The combination of Black stockings and patent leather shoes beautifully contoured my leg lines while echoing the dark brown of the sleeves. Shooting on the asphalt under slightly overcast skies today was actually a blessing: the diffused lighting rendered the colors so softly without harsh shadows, making every shot pop.

The Itasha festival was buzzing with energy—crowds surrounding intricately wrapped cars in the background and massive digital screens broadcasting visuals, setting an immaculate vibe. In front of the camera, I experimented with diverse poses. Rather than standing rigid, I preferred lifting the hem slightly or bending one knee to break up stiff silhouettes and infuse dynamic lightness. For example, lifting both sides of the skirt hem slightly outwards not only displayed the lavishness of the dress, but also guided the viewer's gaze naturally through hand placement. Classic maid poses like resting hands on the waist or throwing up a subtle peace sign with a slight head tilt also turned out exceptionally cute.

As a passionate cosplayer, I believe true recreation isn't just about accurate clothing and wigs, but capturing the character's living spirit. Firefly is a girl driven by unyielding conviction, so even in a maid outfit, I wanted to convey a clean, radiant, and spirited aura. Interacting with everyone at the convention and hearing people say how cute Firefly looked was genuinely heart-warming. The shoot went seamlessly, and the photographer captured so many frames I adore—each reflecting the care poured into this look. I truly hope these photos leave behind a wonderful memory from this Itasha carnival.
