Who managed to capture Sunset Clouds during an outdoor shoot? It's me, it's me! For this set of Zenless Zone Zero Lucia outdoor photos on the lakeside lawn, what satisfies me the most is encountering this sunset glow that one can only come across by luck. Originally, I just wanted to take advantage of the soft evening light to find a spot near the water in a suburban park for a few shots. However, as soon as the sun went down, the entire sky looked as if it had been splashed with oil paints, gradient-shifting from deep blue-violet to orange-red and soft pink, reflecting onto the calm lake surface. Even the swans in the water swam exceptionally leisurely.
Let's talk back about this Lucia outfit itself. The light silver-blue short hair paired with that slender braid at the back of the head actually fit much more snugly than I expected before putting the wig on. Combined with that pair of pointed elf ears, a complete sense of coolness emerged. The black collar around the neck coupled with a large golden circular pendant serves as an excellent visual focal point. The dark off-the-shoulder top stitched with light cyan on the upper body, along with the black criss-cross straps on the chest, is both breathable and adds a sense of layering. The silver metallic-textured armguard on the right arm is one of my favorite parts of this costume. Although it was a bit tight when worn, its reflection effect in front of the lens was absolutely fantastic, perfectly echoing the metallic texture of that long handheld prop in my hand.
That long-handled weapon also deserves praise. The combination of a weathered golden curve and a black handle, plus its complex metallic structure, makes the gripping position just right. Though heavy, it beautifully bolsters the overall aura. The lower body features shorts paired with a black-and-white asymmetrical leg warmer design, along with wide-calf black boots, which is highly friendly for flattering the leg lines in a sitting posture without looking cumbersome. This rock at the shooting location took us quite a while to pick out. Its height is just right to make the sitting pose look relaxed and extended, with knees leaning slightly forward, matching the visual effect of the asymmetrical leg warmers perfectly.
While shooting by the lake, the light of the setting sun hit my body, allowing the metal parts to present a beautiful warm-colored reflection, while the cool tones of the costume itself preserved the character's detachment. I absolutely adore this visual contrast of alternating warm and cool colors. We found several angles on the rock, aiming to ensure the weapon in hand wouldn't block the lines of the clothes while letting the leg shape stretch out as much as possible. The shooting time was actually very rushed. The period when the Sunset Clouds were at their richest only lasted about twenty minutes. The photographer was clicking the shutter rapidly almost the entire time, capturing the best convergence point between the person and the colors of the sky.
The ripples of the lake water behind in the scene were also dyed pink-gold by the sunset glow, and the movement of a few black swans cruising on the water surface was captured perfectly by the lens, as if they had also made a special cameo appearance. That's how outdoor cosplay is; you never know what pleasant surprises the weather will bring you. Just an hour earlier, we were worried about the thick clouds and poor light, and in the blink of an eye, nature handed us the most perfect backdrop. Although this gear looks great, moving props and striking poses outdoors indeed requires some physical strength, especially since resting against the metal components for too long makes it easy to sweat. Fortunately, the final photos completely offset this hard work.
Looking back at this shoot, being able to complete this set of Zenless Zone Zero Lucia cosplay under the Sunset Clouds at this serene lakeside was truly a highly satisfying outdoor experience. The post-processing of the photos didn't involve much heavy editing because the light, shadow, and colors of the raw shots were already stunning enough. Alright, that's today's photo log—every single image is a collision between us and this sunset glow.
