In the meeting room during the day, I face rigorous legal clauses one after another, as well as the expectant gazes of my boss and clients. Dressed in a black suit and leather shoes, my words and deeds must conform to professional norms; under high pressure, I even feel my facial expression has frozen into a calm, static state. At these times, I look like an ordinary lawyer. But that's not all of who I am. After work or on weekends, I grab my large trunk packed with wigs, hairspray, cosmetics, and props, heading to the Anime convention venue. The Magical Girl, Cloud Knight guard, or Yuehai Pavilion secretary mentioned in my posts are all new careers outside the workplace that I've unlocked in private.
When I first started doing cosplay, I worried my logical mindset wouldn't fit the 2D vibe, but later discovered that a lawyer's rigor actually helped immensely. For instance, I carefully study the center of gravity and balance of props to ensure they won't fall while posing; I also plan my Anime convention route for the two days just like mapping out evidence charts, ensuring I visit every booth I want without wasting precious time in lines. If weekdays are for handling specific legal matters, weekends at the Anime convention are for processing my own emotions and stress. Standing in front of bright backdrops, putting on those elaborate outfits, and soaking in the flashes and cheers around me, I can genuinely feel the joy of full-health revival. This joy doesn't stem from vanity, but from long-dormant self-expression.
In the 2D context, I can freely express my personality, even those little emotions normally suppressed for professionalism. Especially when everyone gathers for a shared passion, even strangers can exchange a knowing smile over a single line or gesture—that atmosphere is so profoundly healing. Many people around me don't know about this hobby; they only see my usual seriousness and occasional work reflections on social media. But that is precisely the fun brought by the Gap. Just as many working professionals carry backpacks to hit the gym, I simply carry my backpack to the Anime convention. The moment I take off the suit, no one dictates that I must be perfect, rational, or flawless. I am just an ordinary person who loves cosplay. This rapid identity switch allows me to find a comfortable balance between cold work and passionate hobby. Taking advantage of the lively Spring Festival, I also want to face myself more candidly. No longer pretending to be a rigid lawyer, I'll openly show the side I love most. After all, life has more than one track. I look forward to unlocking more brand-new 2D characters and continuing to happily play in this imaginative little world in the days ahead.
