[Youmu Konpaku cosplay] Mochi Eating Mochi Moment in Touhou Project

This set of Touhou Project Youmu Konpaku cosplay photos centers on recreating her playful moment of holding a mochi in her mouth. The focus of the styling this time was on choosing the right blue contacts and styling the wig. To faithfully recreate the character's pure white hair, I tried on multiple wigs before settling on this one with great smoothness; the ends and bangs were trimmed neatly and set in place with spray. The blue contacts are the soul of the look—not only crystal clear, but also offering just the right depth. For the outfit, the white puff-sleeve shirt adds classical elegance while highlighting the character's lively agility. The tailored dark blue vest over it, finished with a solid black bow at the neckline, creates a layered look. Holding a mochi in mouth was actually tricky to shoot: I had to keep the mochi intact without letting it wobble, while controlling facial muscles to maintain a natural, cute expression. In the first photo, I winked with one eye and gently pointed to the mochi at the corner of my mouth with my index finger; this interactive composition makes the shot even more playful. The second photo features wide eyes with an open-hand pose, looking bright and cheerful. During shooting, a clean white wall was chosen as the background to maximize focus on the character and outfit details. Even indoor flat lighting was used to prevent harsh shadows on the wig and face, making the skin appear brighter and more translucent. Eyeliner definition was crucial: I drew slightly upturned wings paired with curled false eyelashes to effectively elongate the eye contour. Blush was kept minimal, just lightly swept across the apples of the cheeks to add a healthy glow, and the lip makeup was kept subtle to complement the character's complexion. Keeping the mochi in mouth made the jawline tense, but after trying various angles, I found that slightly tilting my face and raising my chin produced the most flattering silhouette. For the prop, I specifically chose a perfectly sized baked mochi—its firm texture matched the desired visual effect. While sorting photos, comparing various expressions led me to choose the first winking shot as the cover, as its interaction was stronger and the overall composition was most harmonious. This clean and adorable presentation perfectly matches the original work's 2D aesthetic. Every cosplay is a meticulous control of details: from wig texture and contact color to bow tightness and prop realism, everything requires trial and error. The final result not only restored the original design but also captured the character's unique freshness. I hope everyone enjoys this style and feels the unique charm of cosplay.
