Taking advantage of the cherry blossom blooming atmosphere, I sorted out this set of Honkai Impact 3rd Yae Sakura cosplay selfie photos. The shooting style chosen this time focuses on casual selfies, where soft indoor lighting better presents the texture of pink hair strands and costumes. For makeup and styling, I focused on the blue contact lenses and slightly upturned eyeliner at the eye corners, paired with pink-toned eyeshadow echoing the hair color to make my gaze look more lively. The blue contact lenses are a crucial element that needs to look natural; the pupil size and color depth were carefully selected so there wouldn't be an awkward unnatural look on camera.
Styling the pink wig took quite some time; the hair strands feature gradient layering, while bangs across the forehead and side wisps nicely flatter facial contours, making the overall look softer. The fluffy pink ears on top are the soul of this look, supported internally by aluminum wires so they can be adjusted to fitting angles—standing erect without looking stiff. Paired with cloth cherry blossom hair ornaments on the side, red tassel cords, and small metallic pendants, the front view echoes the \"cherry blossom season\" theme beautifully. For eyeshadow, a low-saturation peach color was used as a base and deepened near the lash line, while the lip color leans toward a warm coral. The overall makeup strives for a natural, translucent look that highlights character hallmarks. Being a selfie, slightly adjusting angles easily outlines flattering facial contours.
The top is a white ruffled cropped camisole, featuring strong layering with water-soluble lace at the neckline. Most striking is the black cord tassel choker around the neck adorned with amber beads; hanging over the chest, this black tassel creates sharp color contrast with the pure white ruffles while visually elongating the neck. The arm sleeves utilize dark fabric, spliced and bound with red velvet-textured ribbon, accented with small pink flower knots on the arms; these fine decorations enrich the styling without appearing cluttered. The lower half is paired with a wide obi band, featuring an orange-pink base with black horizontal stripes and red piping, tied with red cord to reinforce the Japanese-style design. When shooting this photo set, I tried several different expressions. The winking, playful expression in the first photo broke through the slightly aloof filter, presenting a mischievous, lively charm. The remaining photos maintained a natural gaze, better fitting the character's intrinsic gentle and serene traits. Compared to expansive outdoor locations, taking selfies in front of an indoor white wall allows clearer display of costume fabric texture and makeup cleanliness. Without needing complex backdrops, a simple and direct perspective can sometimes amplify detail beauty better. This selfie state carrying a slight homey touch offers extra ease and naturalness compared to intense studio shoots.
Being able to present the character Yae Sakura through cosplay during this cherry blossom season made me really enjoy the process. From styling the wig and putting in contact lenses to dressing in these multi-layered clothes, every step required patient refinement. The character's setting inherently contains much Japanese-style delicacy. When crafting this look, I paid special attention to color proportions: the main pink tone plus clean white, accented with subtle black and red color-blocking, resulted in an overall effect that feels completely natural and showcases the aesthetic intended in her design. During selfies, I tried to find angles with uniform lighting to capture facial three-dimensionality and costume details in the lens. When applying makeup, I specifically focused on facial smoothness so top or side lighting wouldn't expose shadow flaws.
Whether in outfit coordination or makeup choice, I operated as close to original settings as possible. This indoor selfie attempt records my heartfelt interpretation of the character in this season. Although shot on a smartphone, finding good lighting allowed facial three-dimensionality and clothing texture to be presented wonderfully. Yae Sakura's character aura is unique by nature, and appearing in this state during cherry blossom season fulfilled a small personal wish of mine. If suitable opportunities arise later, perhaps I can shoot an outdoor cherry blossom set to challenge different natural lighting environments.
