This shoot featured C.C.'s Qipao styling from Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion (C.C. cosplay), which is one of my personal favorite looks. In early discussions with the hair and makeup stylist about the garment's structure, the gold-stamped red Qipao paired with an ultra-high slit design was chosen as the defining highlight. The green hair is an iconic hallmark from the character design; to recreate its vibrant translucency, multi-layered light green highlights were applied. The red floral hair accessories and tassels were very exquisite, though during shooting we had to make sure the tassels didn't get tangled in the hair.

The shooting process was actually much more demanding than it looked. Pairing black high heels with the Qipao required an upright, poised stance, while the high slit demanded constant care to prevent accidental exposure—so while maintaining graceful curves, I bore quite a bit of physical strain. The candied hawthorn prop in hand added a touch of playfulness to the outfit, beautifully balancing the Qipao's dignified grace and making the 2D character charm even more pronounced.

In the studio, softboxes provided gentle, diffused lighting that accentuated the three-dimensional texture of the embroidery. Facing the lens, whether for full-body or half-body compositions, I adjusted my body orientation and eye-line per the photographer's guidance. For instance, half-body shots prioritized expressive nuance with a subtle head tilt to create breathing room in the frame; full-body shots emphasized bodily proportions, shifting weight onto one leg so the high slit could better showcase leg lines, which is the pose featured in the pictures.

Post-processing avoided overly exaggerated color grading, mainly cleaning up the background while preserving the vivid color contrast between the red Qipao and green hair. Guided by my understanding of the character, I aimed for a state of languid elegance, so I kept my breathing steady and facial expressions relaxed throughout the shoot. Judging from the final photos, the synergy between props, hair/makeup, and photography was seamless without any awkward stiffness.

For this Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion C.C. Qipao cosplay shoot, I'm truly grateful for the photography team's patience in helping me fine-tune props, lighting, and other details. When reviewing the captured photos, the interplay of light and shadow was fascinating—light refraction gave the red Qipao rich, saturated depth, while the vibrant contrast of red and green against fair skin delivered an immediate visual impact. Documenting this shoot gave me new insights into character portrayal—a truly refreshing and rewarding cosplay experience.
