[Medicine Melancholy cosplay] Enigmatic poison in a Sunflower field: Touhou Project's darkness and pure white

I chose this outfit featuring blonde hair with a large red ribbon and a black-and-red dress to shoot in the sunflower field. Because the photographer proposed this concept the previous evening, we wrapped up the shoot on a tight schedule the very next day.

First, about the costume details: the outer black lace has a wonderful texture, which, paired with the voluminous red skirt and layered white ruffled collar, creates a striking light-and-dark contrast in the sunlight. To stay true to the character design, I went with blue contact lenses and red lips, creating a luminous, translucent look under natural light without over-relying on post-processing.

On the day of the shoot, the sunlight across the sunflower field was intense, especially around noon when it's easy to end up with washed-out faces or harsh shadows. Therefore, we heavily utilized reflectors close to the face to balance the contrast ratio, while preserving the rich texture and hue of the sunflower petals in post-processing. The visual contrast between the black-and-red palette and the golden-yellow backdrop was immensely dramatic.

The first photo features a look-back-over-the-shoulder pose, requiring a slight twist of the waist to let the skirt flare out naturally, showcasing the tailoring and volume of the dress. The second is an upward side-profile angle focused on subtle eye expression—a slightly vacant gaze that feels serene alongside the blooms. The third is a frontal close-up with a sunflower held deliberately in the foreground to add depth to the frame. Although the shoot was somewhat tiring and the skirt was heavy, our tight, high-intensity teamwork allowed us to successfully finish within a few hours, yielding very satisfying results.
