Getting up early for this shoot was not only to echo the Valentine's Day atmosphere but also to take advantage of the bright and soft morning light to recreate Nishiki Asumi's freshness and student vibe. The campus during the holidays was very quiet; only the light filtering through the white tulle curtains onto the wooden bookshelves provided a highly ideal environment for the shoot.
In terms of clothing, I actually did a lot of homework during the preparation. The red and yellow color-blocked bowtie of this uniform is the visual focus. Paired with the white inner shirt and the black waist-cinching vest, it not only captures the discipline of a Campus style but also reflects a hint of the character's own playfulness. The gray and white striped details on the skirt hem were also treated to match the original design as closely as possible. Coupled with black tights and leather shoes, once the overall look was put together, that specific Campus style atmosphere immediately became full and rich.
During the shoot, the prop in my hand was that round bun. Perhaps because I woke up incredibly early that day, when I took pictures holding the steaming prop, I truly had the illusion of spending a morning campus time in reality. Besides playing with the food prop, there were also states of sitting by the wooden desk resting my chin on my hand looking at the camera, or standing quietly with downcast eyes. In every posture, I wanted to convey the character's natural feel in her relaxed daily life as much as possible.
Special thanks to the photographer @ZeZe Shark for staying up late to accompany me. To capture the best natural morning light, we confirmed the light source's positioning the night before, and he started setting up the equipment to shoot early this morning. Under his lens, the light blue bangs didn't look heavy but presented a lightweight hair flow. He captured some details during the shoot, such as the slight pause in breathing when holding the bread with both hands, or the emotion in my eyes when looking at the camera, with absolute precision.
For Nishiki Asumi from Madosoft's "Hamidashi Creative", I think she doesn't have an ostentatious personality; much of her charm is hidden in plain daily interactions. Therefore, my performance in front of the lens leaned more towards being quiet and restrained. I hope to use these peaceful expressions and body language, combined with the scholarly environment, to recreate the unique aura of this character, where approachability and a sense of distance are just right.
As a cosplay project full of attempts, being able to successfully complete this set of works on Valentine's Day and share this morning Campus style and food daily routine with everyone makes me highly satisfied. This set of photos is not only a passion for the character but also a memory left through earnest collaboration with my partner.
