[Komeiji Koishi cosplay] Touhou Project Summer Outfit Try-on Chronicle

When doing this Summer outfit try-on for Komeiji Koishi, even though the Start of Autumn had passed, the temperature remained distinctly summery, perfectly complementing the wardrobe design.

This fitting session was primarily aimed at documenting and fine-tuning costume details. A Mirror selfie is the most straightforward method: mounting the phone on a tripod or simply holding it by hand as in the photos allows immediate evaluation of upper-to-lower body proportions directly in the glass.

The entire outfit prioritizes layered dimensions. The outer black lace is exceptionally sheer, revealing the vivid green pleated fabric beneath. The skirt cascades in multi-tiered layers with scalloped edges that ripple like fluid waves with every step. The bodice design is distinctive, featuring generous beige ruffles along the neckline and an oversized blue spherical prop at the chest connected by blue cords.

The mint green wig carries a refreshing, translucent hue, which, paired with the black bonnet trimmed with gold ruffled edges, grounds the visual busyness of the color scheme. For leg styling, I opted for Black stockings and black platform shoes. The black hosiery visually elongates leg contours, while the chunky platforms, purple ankle ribbons, and crisscrossing purple leg cords echo the character's vintage, cryptic aura.

Although the garment employs substantial fabric yardage, its summer design ensures commendable breathability without feeling stifling. The blue sphere on the chest sways gently while walking, adding playful dynamic charm. Both the shoulder straps and rear corset lacing required precise calibration to resolve cleanly in the mirror.

Throughout the fitting, I continually rearranged the folds of the skirt so the distribution of black lace and green pleats appeared harmoniously balanced. Fitting an intricate costume is essentially a continuous process of micro-adjustments—such as shortening the blue suspension cord so the sphere hangs fuller, or slightly loosening the purple leg wraps to prevent unsightly indentations across the thighs.

Compared to a formal studio session, trying on clothes at home feels far more relaxed and allows me to inspect garment construction and comfort at my own pace. The practical perk of a Mirror selfie also lies in verifying whether the wig at the back of the head is disheveled or if the rear train has snagged.

This try-on took about an hour from suiting up to finalizing every accessory. The sheer texture of the Black stockings paired against the grounded weight of the platform shoes supported the dress's airy visual presence beautifully, creating a styling combination I am deeply pleased with. This captures the enduring appeal of this Touhou Project character: the costume design offers vast depth and room for creative deliberation, revealing delightful new details with every try-on.
