This time, I teamed up with 13 to shoot Meltryllis's Summer Melt look, with the costume provided by @YiMa服装定制—the details are truly spot on. The shiny texture of the blue bodysuit looks incredible under the lights, and when paired with the white ruffled off-the-shoulder top and shiny silver over-knee socks, the overall color palette feels remarkably cool and high-end. During the shoot, I kept brainstorming how to capture that "it's lonely at the top" tsundere vibe unique to Melt, but as soon as I faced the camera, I couldn't help but keep a poker face. However, anyone who knows me well knows that a straight face is actually my most relaxed state—my friends even called it my "poker-face cuteness."
The set was decorated with blue tulle curtains and pearl chains to create a dreamlike, deep-sea environment. We also specially prepared a globe and white flowers as props, which fit beautifully with the water and star elements in her character lore from Fate/Grand Order. The camera used was a Sony A7 III with a wide F2.8 aperture, keeping the ISO at 400-500 and the shutter speed at 1/250. This allowed us to keep the image perfectly clean in a low-light setting while accentuating my gaze and the glossy sheen of the hair strands.
The straight bangs of the white wig were trimmed very neatly. Paired with starry-blue colored contact lenses and her signature teardrop mole, the makeup focus was placed on the seamless transition between the eyeshadow and blush, giving me a natural complexion without losing her iconic traits. Throughout the shoot, we experimented with several different angles, including standing and kneeling positions. The final selected photos capture a weightless yet slightly detached temperament, which is exactly how Meltryllis looks in my mind.
Even though this outfit shows a fair amount of skin, it feels incredibly light and comfortable once worn, likely because the tailoring and fabric elasticity fit perfectly. Every time I portray characters from the Fate series, it feels like a brand-new exploration. Transforming a 2D setting into a realistic portrait requires a delicate balance between accuracy and personal style. This was an incredibly pleasant collaboration, and I hope everyone can feel the quiet strength within this water-colored dreamscape through our Cosplay photography.
