For this Saber Alter cosplay shoot, the main goal was to present a fusion of modern street style and dark aesthetics. For the wardrobe, I chose a long black coat over a white shirt with a red tie, paired with a blue-and-white plaid pleated skirt and Black stockings. This combination fits the cold, haughty king persona of Artoria from Fate/Grand Order while infusing a rebellious modern edge. The location was set next to a graffiti wall covered in smiley faces and red lettering, naturally exuding a decadent, Cyberpunk ambiance.

Photographer Shiwang demonstrated exceptional control over light and shadow. The setup used a wide base of cold blue lighting accented with red and pink sources aimed at my face and the coat's inner lining. This warm-cool contrast ensured that shadow details and highlighted contours remained crisp and clear. The blue light chilled the overall frame, making the red tie and red coat lining striking focal points. Throughout the shoot, my main focus was expression and gaze control. Saber Alter's character is not outwardly fierce, but rather an aloof onlooker with a sense of disdain and solitary pride. Thus, I spent most of the time refining my gaze through subtle downward tilts or direct stares into the lens.

The seated pose in photo 4 actually happened because the ground was cool and I sat down to take a breather; surprisingly, the photographer captured a fantastic state. The sheen of the black stockings was especially pronounced under the uplight, while resting my chin in my hand accentuated facial contours and elongated leg lines. Centered cleanly in the frame, it unexpectedly became my favorite cover shot. Other photos featured casual sitting with a drink cup or standing in profile; these relaxed postures easily broke conventional norms, grounding the character in a more urban, everyday reality.

The lighting conditions that day were complex. To capture the subtle textures on the red tie and Black stockings cosplay styling, we shot numerous angles—lying down, standing, and extending legs forward. Unlike typical combat setups on open plains, shooting in an alleyway brimming with urban decay produced a striking visual punch. Standing under the cool lighting in this outfit made it effortless to step into character. The final outcome was the fruitful result of continuous exchange of ideas and fine-tuning alongside the photographer.
