[Ruan Mei cosplay] Honkai: Star Rail, Chinese classical style aesthetics amidst the fragrance of plum blossoms

"Plum blossoms bloom and fade, and I occasionally catch a hint of loneliness in their fragrance." This line served as the caption, perfectly fitting this Honkai: Star Rail Ruan Mei shoot. To capture the unique charm belonging to the Chinese classical style, we put a lot of thought into scene building and prop preparation. The background featured wooden lattice windows and a bogu shelf, with a blue-and-white porcelain vase, red plum blossoms, and a plucked string instrument arranged on the table. The shadows of bamboo nearby exuded a faint, quiet serenity, bringing an inherent tranquil atmosphere to the entire space.

The costume details are extremely intricate. The splicing of peacock blue and dark brown outlines graceful lines, while the outer white shawl features golden tassels that create a slight clinking sound when walking. To recreate the character's temperament, I wore blue-gray contact lenses and dark blue long gloves, while the pearl collar around the neck and the golden leg rings on the thigh are also indispensable details. Once these accessories are worn, one's posture involuntarily straightens up. The high-slit skirt hem design requires extra care when sitting and standing to ensure both compositional beauty and prevent wardrobe malfunctions. Before the shoot, I had some concerns about the outfit's heavy feel, but after putting it on, I found the fabric's drape to be exceptional; as long as the angles were adjusted, the skirt's arc looked gorgeous before the lens.

This shoot was divided into two groups: sitting and standing poses. For the one sitting on the wooden desk, I tried integrating the pipa into the composition. Holding a plum blossom, legs crossed, I utilized the high-slit design to showcase leg contours, presenting an elegant yet slightly languid posture before the camera. To capture that aloof feeling, the gaze needed to be slightly reined in, avoiding staring too forcefully straight into the lens. The standing composition focused more on showcasing the full-body costume structure and posture: holding a thin rod in one hand with the other hand slightly splayed, matching the bamboo leaves in the background and a warm-yellow desk lamp to create a visual depth akin to strolling inside a painting.

The tea-tasting photos left the deepest impression on me. Holding a small white teacup while looking at the blue-and-white porcelain pot and red plum blossoms on the table, I imagined the character's state of mind when researching alone and immersing herself in her own world. During the shooting process, the photographer @COS大色迷 demonstrated extremely professional control over light and shadow; he used soft lighting to suppress the clutter in the background, allowing the main subject and the classical environment to blend seamlessly together. To ensure the texture of the Cosplay photoshoot, we repeatedly polished the minor adjustments of poses and the conveyance of gazes, shooting for a long time before capturing the most satisfying moments.

Throughout the entire shoot, although it was somewhat tiring climbing up and down the wooden furniture wearing high heels and cumbersome attire, seeing that dignified yet faintly aloof Atmosphere in the final images made everything worthwhile. I hope that through this set of photos, this unique Eastern aesthetics can be vividly displayed.
