From preparation to final execution, putting together this Requiem cosplay took immense thought and dedication. To achieve the best possible result, we focused heavily on costume and prop details beforehand. The wig is a custom split half-and-half design in black and white; on the white side, I deliberately clipped on a black cross hairpin and a red heart-shaped hairpin to faithfully maximize the character's signature visual impact. Costume-wise, the layering is extraordinarily rich: the upper half features a ruffled white blouse with a black ribbon bow at the collar, worn beneath a red-and-black color-blocked wide-sleeve jacket. To capture a more dynamic vibe, I wore the jacket shrugged off the shoulders; this allowed freer movement while injecting dramatic visual tension into the frame. The black webbing straps and metallic buckles on the sleeves were carefully adjusted before shooting to ensure flawless structure and drape on camera. The high-waisted black pleated skirt is equally packed with detail—the corset-style lace-up waistline is very flattering, and I cinched it snugly to carve a sharp waistline, while the white ruffled lace along the hem broke up the dark palette for a balanced visual aesthetic. Naturally, the biggest eye-catcher is the white eyeball accessory dangling from the side of the skirt. This charm is truly the soul of the entire look, and many fellow fans recognized the character thanks to it. I anchored it securely to the side, minding its orientation during poses so it wouldn't flip around chaotically during larger movements.
For makeup, to authentically convey her aura, I wore bright red circle lenses and deepened the contours with reddish eyeshadow, paired with a porcelain-fair base to evoke a doll-like, surreal presence. I tweaked the eyeshadow blending radius several times until settling on a finished look that held deep atmosphere without looking overly exaggerated—ideal for street photography. The shooting location was a bustling anime-infused street corner. Right behind me stood a massive cylindrical billboard showcasing the same anime character design; this fourth-wall-breaking juxtaposition felt truly magical and saved us the effort of building a backdrop. To complement the styling, I wore chunky high-top sneakers in a black, white, and red colorway. Along with elongating leg lines, pairing them with sheer black Stockings completed the layered aesthetic. On set, because the platform shoes were quite hefty, balancing and striking cute, playful poses on asphalt streets required solid core stability. I tried poses like tucking hair with one hand or raising both hands like cat paws, striving to channel her quirky individuality and kinetic energy.
Regarding textiles, the red and black jacket fabrics were chosen with care: they needed enough structural firmness to maintain shape while draped off the shoulders, while reflecting rich texture under natural daylight. The pleats on the skirt were thoroughly pressed beforehand, as the silhouette relies heavily on razor-sharp folds. To handle walking around during street shooting, I added cushioned insoles to prevent fatigue during extended standing. Posing on busy streets with crowds passing by demands strong immersion and confidence. I completely lost myself in Requiem's persona, maintaining an expression that balanced an impassive 'kuudere' neutrality with a hint of mischievous playfulness, complemented by the crimson eye makeup to capture her essence. In the shots, the virtual character on the billboard is seated while I stand on the street, using different kinetic dynamics to bring the character alive in reality. Manifesting a virtual game character into three dimensions and interacting with the real world is an utterly enjoyable journey for a cosplayer, and that creative inspiration came straight from Neverness to Everness. Every inch of this look from head to toe went through meticulous checks, and the moment the finished photos arrived, every ounce of effort proved completely worthwhile.
