This shoot for Wuthering Waves Shorekeeper took extensive dedication from initial pre-production to the final retouches. To embody the character's tranquil, ethereal persona, custom tailoring of the gown took considerable time. The dress incorporates abundant pearlescent organza and holographic textiles that refract multi-tiered gradients of azure under studio lighting. To create that translucent ocean-wave ripple, the fabric dyes between the inner lining and the outer drape went through multiple test swatches. The silver filigree lines and celestial blue star accents across the bust weren't merely glued on—they were reinforced with invisible anchor stitching along the borders to prevent wardrobe malfunctions or shifting during movement. The wig was cut into an icy-blue short bob; to prevent it from falling flat under studio heat, the bangs were subtly backcombed and curled with out-turned tips to add organic liveliness. For makeup, primary emphasis went to the eyes: smudging pinkish-red eyeshadow across a wide gradient paired with soft pink contact lenses gave the gaze an aloof, serene chill grounded in gentleness. The lips were finished with a sheer, natural soft tint to avoid distracting from the gown's focal points.
Set design was a premier highlight of this shoot. Inside the studio, we constructed white Gothic archways inlaid with vibrant stained glass windows, projecting prismatic colored light across the white walls for breathtaking cinematic texture. To elevate interactive depth and environmental mood, we brought in a dark antique wooden piano, surrounding it with an ocean of blue and white florals alongside classical Roman pillars. A white birdcage resting atop the piano and a blue butterfly prop in hand served to enrich visual storytelling. Glossy mirrored floor paneling was laid across the set to reflect both figure and petals, dramatically extending vertical visual perspective.
Because the gossamer bridal veil and deep-blue cape trailed long behind me, every shift in blocking and posing required utmost vigilance. To accentuate the dual-waist cutouts and crisscrossing silver lacing, I explored an upright stance in the first look—pulling back the shoulders, engaging the core, and opening the arms slightly while letting the skirt billow naturally to maintain stability. The seated piano playing poses were equally deliberate; to ensure my fingers rested naturally across the keys, I practiced basic fingering techniques beforehand. Whether curling onto the piano stool or reclining sideways on the floor, refining how to elongate leg lines while naturally arranging the tiered drapes of the skirt was an ongoing collaborative dialogue with the photographer. Special thanks to photographer @翎羽 for his razor-sharp sensitivity toward light and shadow; to sculpt three-dimensional facial contours, he continuously recalibrated softbox angles while guiding my eye lines and micro-gestures. He also utilized small handheld props to subtly shape jawline contours and harnessed chromatic glass refractions to introduce catchlights into my eyes. While the shoot was physically demanding—and donning this multi-layered gown alone consumed considerable time—all exhaustion dissolved the second the finished frames emerged. I truly hope these photos convey that serene, mysterious, and deeply elegant ocean-blue realm.
