[Arknights Haruka Cosplay] A Little Idol Curtsying Amidst the Roaring Crowd

As a little idol taking her final bow amidst the roaring crowd, when the last piece of golden confetti fell onto my shoulder, I closed my eyes following that tilted-head stance. Although there was no real audience below the stage, capturing this moment on camera felt as though I had truly completed a grand performance. Choosing to do a Haruka cosplay and Momonoka cosplay photoshoot for Arknights was a very special experience. From the first moment I came into contact with this character, I was deeply drawn to her bright, pure, yet slightly stubborn personality. She isn't just an idol on stage; she is more like a living being running toward the light.

To accurately bring this character to life, I did plenty of homework beforehand. The moment I got this costume, what struck me most was its bright, contrasting color design. The white base top paired with the dark blue, red-trimmed pleated miniskirt preserved the character's original cleanliness and vitality, while the corset belt at the waist and those knee-high boots with red crisscross straps instantly dialed up the fusion atmosphere of combat and stage idol. The red gloves and hair ornaments served as the finishing touches, making me look as if I were glowing against the warm, orange-yellow background.

On the day of the shoot, the photographer asked what I wanted to express. Without overthinking, I decided to shed the intentionally posed stage posture and sit down quietly in a corner. As mentioned in the title, taking a curtain call amidst a roaring crowd is a natural state. When countlessly golden confetti fluttered down from above, I naturally tilted my head back and reached out my hands. I wanted to capture a sense of tranquility and comfort after the clamor fades away—that even when the performance ends, the idol still believes in the light.

As for makeup and styling, I specifically recreated the pinkish-orange long hair this time, weaving red and yellow hair ribbons between the strands to give it more depth and texture. Although wearing a wig and prop boots for an entire day of shooting was exhausting, the moment I saw the raw photos, all the fatigue turned into a feeling of accomplishment. The texture of the golden confetti resting on my hair, shoulders, and skirt hem brought a soft warmth to the imagery, transforming it from a cold cosplay studio shooting session into something with emotional flow.

I have always felt that cosplay is not just about wearing a costume, but about experiencing the life of that character. During the shoot, I even found myself imagining how Momonoka would catch these fluttering ribbons if she were truly standing in front of me, and how she would face the conclusion of such a day. This is the charm of cosplay: giving us the opportunity to briefly step away from reality and experience another passionate life.

The details of this costume were very meticulously crafted. The material of the red gloves creates subtle highlights under side-backlighting, and while the buckles on the belt are purely decorative, they give the waistline a much sharper silhouette. Although the white knee-high boots required extra care when putting on and walking around, their presence bestowed a heroic sharpness upon the character, adding a crisp, capable edge to the otherwise soft idol demeanor. During the shoot, I deliberately adjusted the angle of my raised hand so that the light and shadow caught the back of my hand, giving the posture more visual dimensionality.

Looking back at these photos, I recall the feeling of playing music inside the studio. Although it was a straightforward studio session, if you truly immerse your heart into it, it genuinely feels like a miniature recital. From styling at the start to the final wrap-up, every stage—planning, makeup, photography, and post-processing—carried everyone's dedication. Participating in the Arknights creator support program this time was also driven by my desire to convey a more vivid charm through my interpretation of the character's state.

I've always felt that when portraying a character, the most crucial aspect is aligning with their expression and subtle demeanor. I attempted an expression that hovered between a smile and stillness, carrying a gaze that conveyed slight tiredness yet shimmered with inner light. As the confetti drifted down from the air leaving soft arcs, that moment became my most relaxed state.
