[Skadi the Corrupting Heart cosplay] The Lonely Seaborn of the Doomsday IF, a Phantom on the Rocky Coast

The shooting of this Skadi the Corrupting Heart look happened to coincide with the evening after the tide receded. The rocky beach before me, covered with huge pebbles, and the distant sea level perfectly matched the desolate and empty atmosphere of the doomsday IF-line. To recreate the character's non-human temperament as much as possible, we made quite a few attempts in location selection and light scheduling. The clothing body is a red and black layered short skirt with many ruffled structures at the hem, which gives a great sense of movement when walking. The silver decorative plates and hollowed-out designs from the chest to the waist, combined with that conspicuous triangular geometric corset, pull the religious and heretical vibe of the entire outfit to the absolute maximum. The most time-consuming part was actually the headpiece; the complex structure in black and blue with curves and scale textures was extremely broad. To fix it on my head and resist the sea breeze, the makeup artist used many hidden snaps and glue, leaving my scalp numb when removing it after the shoot. The silver collar device in front of the neck, cooperating with the hanging metal chains, was also a test for the neck's weight-bearing, which got a bit painful when keeping my head low or turning for a long time, but the cold texture presented in the frame indeed made up for these small troubles.

The long-handled staff in my hands unexpectedly served as a walking stick when walking among the rocks; the black complex decorations and pendants at the top reflected under the sunset, adding many mysterious embellishments to the frame. I have always been highly obsessed with this kind of setting that lies between divinity and a non-human style outfit, so I deliberately let my gaze and some micro-expressions go blank, trying to express the emptiness after being assimilated by the ocean and having humanity gradually fade away. The evening sunset provided us with excellent side-backlighting; when the sunlight reflected back from the sea surface, hitting that red fabric layer of the skirt hem and the black crisscross straps on the legs, it formed a very beautiful contour highlight. The white high-heeled short boots also formed a strong color contrast with the rocks at this moment.

Doing a rocky coast photoshoot outdoors truly requires staying extremely alert; the surface is wet and slippery with sharp edges, and one must constantly pay attention to stepping firmly. During the shoot, to find the angle that could just showcase the sense of loneliness, I had to make various large strides on the uneven rocks, and a few times I almost slipped, relying entirely on the staff in my hand to stabilize my center of gravity. Although the clothes are beautiful, it indeed hurts to have them rubbed by seawater and rocks. Fortunately, the photographer's snapshotting efficiency was very high; several pictures were taken directly at the moment of alternating movements. That unforced dynamic effect with a bit of randomness actually had more flavor than posed shots. The entire shooting process was indeed very hard—windproofing, slip-proofing, and preventing props from slipping out of hand—but it was precisely these real environmental tests that allowed this rocky beach surrounded by seawater to have a genuine interaction with this doomsday-colored styling. The core of this setting is loneliness and alienation; I hope that figure staring at the sea level on the massive rock in the lens can accurately convey that non-human feel in this Cosplay photoshoot.
