Standing under the scarlet light in this outfit, the phrase 'until the earth turns into a lime' kept echoing in my head. Preparing for the Hangzhou Arknights-only convention [Defending Glory] began a full two weeks in advance. From the moment the custom brown wavy wig arrived, sculpting that voluminous yet effortlessly tousled texture took considerable effort. The plush Animal ears atop the crown and the red-and-white striped athletic headband are signature character hallmarks; to ensure nothing slipped while rushing across convention floors, anti-slip alligator clips were sewn into the headband's interior. The white ribbed athletic tank top with black piping details underwent repeated cross-checks, with the chest insignia tailored specifically to match game assets. The black choker and wrist cuffs were equally indispensable accessories.
The convention energy was buzzing. Walking through the halls as Angelina and hearing fellow Doktahs cheer 'Jie-ge can fly!', that joyful camaraderie with fellow fans is truly irreplaceable. As a messenger, she carries an inherent light-footed rhythm, so I deliberately kept my steps buoyant while roaming the floor. Meeting so many passionate players, swapping stories, and taking joint photos in front of the booths—that pure, unadulterated passion for the subculture moved me deeply.
Collaborating with photographer Nord for this set was a wonderful experience; he excels at sculpting cinematic ambiance through light and shadow. We sought out a dim pocket within the venue, deploying red continuous LED lights and rim backlighting to carve out maximum visual impact. The red wash streaming across my frame not only introduced rich tonal depth to the brown wig but also made my skin appear exceptionally fair. To complement such aggressive, high-tension lighting, I fine-tuned my body language. In the first shot, brushing aside a lock of hair with a direct, piercing gaze toward the camera, the photographer captured a confident, bold aura. In the second frame, leaning slightly forward with arms naturally relaxed, the body contours and low-key shadows infused the composition with storytelling depth. Wearing a cropped Sporty style tank top meant maintaining continuous awareness of my core, neck, and shoulder lines to present the crispest silhouette before the lens.
This wasn't my first time cosplaying Angelina, yet slipping into this wardrobe always brings fresh emotions. Her blend of playful spunk and subtle mystique demands ongoing character study. Ahead of the event, I reset my sleep schedule and skincare routine days in advance to ensure my complexion held up flawlessly under intense red lighting and high-resolution glass. The shoot was physically exhausting—constantly shifting angles to avoid background clutter and collaborating with the lighting tech to re-aim fixtures. Seeing the final edits, however, made every drop of effort worthwhile. The red lighting amplified her dramatic presence and gave the photos searing visual punch. This collection documents my understanding of Angelina—a cherished archive of my journey in ACG culture.
Night had fallen by the time I exited the expo hall, heading home thoroughly exhausted yet deeply fulfilled. Looking back on those hours immersed in character, I still savor every moment. Treating every cosplay with devotion, pouring heart into authentic portrayal and expression—that is the purest joy that conventions and character embodiment offer me.
