【Asuka Cosplay】Neon Genesis Evangelion: Asuka's At-Home Casual Selfies - Image 1

The wig has stayed surprisingly gorgeous even after being stored away for two years! This vibrant orange wig had been resting quietly in a dustproof bag for two whole years, so when I took it out to comb through it today, I felt a bit apprehensive. Wigs kept in long-term storage often tangle, frizz, or even fade; yet its strands remained just as silky smooth as when I first trimmed it, and the bright color stayed vivid. This wig was prepared specifically for an Asuka Cosplay from Neon Genesis Evangelion. The original design's twin hairclips/buns and blunt bangs require meticulous styling; back then, I put tremendous effort into refining the layers, making sure the sideburns contoured the face naturally without looking stiff.

Over time, I've accumulated solid professional experience with wig maintenance. Before storing a wig, always gently wash it in cold water with a small amount of conditioner—never scrub vigorously—then rinse along the grain of the fibers and let it air-dry naturally. When drying, use cool air or low heat, blowing downwards in the direction of the strands, and finish with a dedicated wig conditioning spray. Combing through it today with a wide-tooth comb from the tips upward, the strands smoothed out effortlessly. The two little hair accessory buns on top required a touch of hairspray for hold, anchored at the base with bobby pins to maintain their dimensional cuteness.

For makeup, Asuka's blue eyes are the soul of the look. Today I chose high-pigment blue colored contacts with natural gradient borders. To make the gaze appear deeper, I used earth tones as a broad eye makeup base, with eyeliner flicking slightly upward along the eye contour to evoke that signature tsundere sharpness and poise in an authentic Anime-style makeup. For the base, I selected a lightweight foundation that preserves natural skin texture, lightly dusting pink blush beneath the eyes and across the tip of the nose for youthful vitality. The lips were finished with a low-saturation dusty rose, keeping the overall face clean and radiant.

Instead of her plugsuit, I wore a relaxed beige graphic T-shirt for this shoot, resting my chin on one hand to capture an Anime daily life perspective. Cosplay doesn't always demand full heavy armor or grand scenery; a faithful recreation of hair and makeup combined with everyday clothing can beautifully showcase a character lowering her guard and embracing ordinary life. In front of the camera, I continuously adjusted my gaze, attempting to seize her nuanced state of looking outwardly self-assured while remaining inwardly delicate. Using everyday selfies as a record serves both as a check on my styling technique and as a lighthearted expression of my enduring love for the character.
