For this campus shoot at Beilin, I decided to go straight out in this custom design cosplay casual outfit for Asuka. Abandoning the original combat suit and red mecha elements of Neon Genesis Evangelion, this look featuring a loose black jacket paired with a white inner top, a red bowtie, and a red-and-black plaid pleated skirt actually gave me more room for performance. The white thigh-highs outfit not only fits the autumn campus cosplay theme but also beautifully flatters the leg lines under the sunlight's refraction. The black jacket has silver zippers and metal buttons; this slightly metallic design, in a way, echoes the sci-fi worldview the character herself belongs to. For the inner wear, instead of a fully covering shirt at the neckline, I paired it with a preppy bowtie. Along with a chunky red scarf, it creates an early winter vibe without looking bulky.

My junior has a great eye for capturing light and shadow. The cover photo, snapped halfway up the stairs, perfectly embodies the character's tsundere and confident posture. The backlight hitting the orange-red wig creates a beautiful rim light along the edges of the hair. Hands slightly on the hips and a firm gaze perfectly match her usual slightly aloof yet powerful aura. Another photo, looking far away while sitting on a stone bench, shows her quiet side. The crossed-legs pose elongates the leg lines, and the metal ring buckles on the matte boots sparkle in the sunlight, creating a wonderful correspondence between the texture and the sci-fi tech feel of her character design.

Shooting a custom design cosplay in the corners of the school is all about naturalness and a relaxed vibe. The shot of me crouching by the pool creates a fantastic autumn color contrast between the red hair and the yellowing fallen leaves around it; the intertwining of red and yellow gives the image rich saturation levels. The two close-ups with hands covering the chest attempt to present the occasional softness flashing in the character's heart, with a hint of confusion and sorrow revealed in the eyes. Every photo actually contains a reconstruction and understanding of the character's original setting.

Many people consider custom design cosplay to be OOC (Out of Character), but I think it's just a different form of expression. As long as the expression, posture, and core temperament remain, she is still that presence you cannot ignore. I particularly love the composition by the pool; the texture of the stone edge combined with the faint reflection on the water's surface gives the whole photo a narrative depth. While shooting, my junior kept telling me to just be natural, so many of the poses were candid shots I wasn't even aware of.

Although the autumn sunlight was dazzling, it also added a natural soft-focus filter to the images. Paired with this casual outfit, the entire campus cosplay shooting process became very relaxing. We didn't deliberately pursue flashy special effects, but simply relied on authentic lighting and the natural campus environment to shape the character. This creative approach often yields great photos, and every picture perfectly matches my understanding of this character. We didn't even specifically look for any popular landmarks; we just walked along the campus paths, capturing those everyday, non-performative moments, which felt incredibly natural. Alright, that's it for this custom design cosplay sharing. If you want to see another style of Asuka Cosplay, please look forward to it.
