This edition brings my specially customized Asuka look. From fabric selection to pattern adjustments, a lot of effort was invested, and the final presentation aligns wonderfully with my expectations. The red and black color scheme combined with glossy materials is remarkably eye-catching under convention hall lights—especially in a venue with an industrial-style roof, where lighting brings out the texture and sheen of the red dress for fantastic photo results.
Let's start with key details of this Cosplay outfit: the neckline features a black lace layered choker with a slightly flared neck design that accentuates neck lines without feeling overly dull. The main red skirt uses a glossy leather-textured fabric with fine highlights across the surface, paired with hollow crisscross strappings on the chest to enhance three-dimensional layering visually. The skirt hem adopts a fluffy tiered cake style, with inner lining and edges spliced with black lace ruffles, retaining the character's energy while adding a touch of elegance. A long red train trails behind, creating a flowing silhouette when walking—perfect for candidly capturing dynamic moments. Paired on the legs are black sheer stockings and high-heeled red bow shoes, which elongate body proportions while highlighting the confident, expressive personality the character has always given me.
For props, I chose a wooden violin and matching bow. Although used primarily as a display prop on site, photographer Yunlong guided me into violin-playing postures during shooting, which, paired with an upright posture, brought out that tsundere yet focused expression. The orange-red hair was styled into twin high pigtails, with red rose hair ornaments on both sides echoing the overall palette. The eyepatch was also a Custom clothing item with an excellent fit, comfortable enough for extended wear without pressing against the eyes.
The shooting venue was bustling that day with many convention visitors around, but we were fortunate to find an area in a corner with a cylindrical display platform. Yunlong excels at leveraging ambient lighting, deliberately keeping the background's grayish-black industrial ceiling and scattered crowds' silhouettes in the photos, then using color isolation post-processing to make the dominant red pop. The shot standing on the platform playing the violin truly captured the feel of being under stage spotlights.
Since the glossy fabric of this Custom clothing easily reflected light, soft light requirements were high on set. The photographer and I adjusted reflector angles multiple times to avoid blown-out white spots on my face or skirt. This custom Asuka outfit was precisely measured from waistline to skirt length, ensuring no embarrassing wardrobe slips whether sitting or standing, making it relatively easy to wear and manage. Spending a full day at the convention venue was tiring on my feet, yet every time a passerby stopped or a camera pointed at me, my passion for this character reignited.
During Convention photography, we tried close-ups, full-body standing shots, and dynamic candid captures to find optimal angles. Photos 1 and 3 focused on tension and overall atmosphere, while the cover close-up—with a hand lightly resting on the neck and eyes looking straight into the lens—precisely conveyed determination and composure. Beyond showcasing beautiful costumes, participating in conventions is about recreating the character's aura in specific scenes through varied poses and expressions; even capturing a single moment is a deeply enjoyable endeavor.
Finally, a huge thank you to photographer Yunlong for his patient guidance throughout, capturing the best state of this red-dress Asuka through his lens. Although the custom costume process was intricate, smoothly completing this photo set at the convention and meeting so many friends who share a love for character dressing made it a truly fulfilling experience.
