Presenting this client photoshoot of Saber in a Honkai: Star Rail setting—the moment Excalibur was held in hand, that heavy sense of realism instantly pulled one into the character's powerful aura. First, regarding the costume, the royal blue main tone is incredibly eye-catching, and paired with uniform gold trimmings and stitching, the overall texture immediately elevates. The matching blue bow on the chest and white ruffles on the cuffs introduce soft, delicate elements into the tough knight attire, while the metallic shine of the left pauldrons creates a layered yet neat combination of blue, gold, and white. The white inner collar is styled cleanly, which, together with the cinched waist cut, fully showcases the character's heroic and sharp spirit.
Upon receiving this greatsword, the first thing that caught my eye was the rune engravings on the blade, demonstrating exceptional care in recreating the details. The gold and blue color scheme of the crossguard and the pointed emblem in the center perfectly echoed the golden trims on the costume. Being an authentic shooting prop, it carries a noticeable weight, which actually proved very helpful when posing. In shots like the second image where I hold the sword one-handed or upright before my chest, the real weight allowed me to naturally adjust my center of gravity, making my stance more upright, firm, and free of artificial weakness. Regarding makeup and hair, the golden wig felt very smooth, and the stylist handled the iconic ahoge sticking up at the top very naturally without any stiff glue texture. Paired with emerald green contact lenses and fair base makeup, my gaze looked exceptionally clear and calm against the backdrop of the red curtain.
On the day of the shoot, the background was decorated with deep red velvet curtains and draped with golden gear decorations; this stage-like, courtly setting suited the character's overall mood wonderfully. We experimented with different angles and poses during filming: holding the sword upfront required maintaining a focused gaze without tucking the chin, conveying a calm yet formidable presence; holding the sword sideways emphasized opening the shoulders and letting muscles bear weight naturally; while the final dynamic snapshot of carrying the sword across the shoulder demanded greater mastery of balance and momentum to freeze the right moment. The photographer had exceptional control over the lighting, using main lights to illuminate my face and wig contours while casting rim lights on the blade and shoulder armor, producing reflective metallic textures that heightened the 3D depth and realism. Though mostly static poses, experimenting with diverse body language conveyed the character's composure, decisiveness, and commanding knightly stance. Throughout crafting the look and shooting, while appreciating every detail of this outfit, I pondered how to merge Saber's classic design with Honkai: Star Rail's sci-fi world-building. I'm personally immensely satisfied with the final photos—it was a truly hardcore Anime cosplay experience.
