[Mystia Lorelei cosplay] Touhou Project: Quiet Moments Before Night Sparrow's Izakaya Opens

The outdoor photoshoot preparing for the opening of Night Sparrow's Izakaya finally wrapped up smoothly! We specifically chose a Japanese garden featuring wooden verandas, shoji sliding doors, and cherry blossoms to recreate the atmosphere. When studying the character design previously, I was particularly drawn to the visual contrast sparked by a Western Lolita dress set against traditional Japanese architecture.

The hair and makeup took considerable effort: the pink wig was trimmed into airy, light layers, paired with fluffy beast ears on top and a cap adorned with white pompoms to stay as faithful as possible to the lively, agile vibe in the original lore. The costume is a brown-and-white Lolita dress featuring intricate layered lace at the neckline and a ruby brooch accent on the chest. The large pink wings on the back look ethereal in photos, but wearing and securing them was actually quite grueling, requiring constant attention to angles during the shoot to avoid revealing the harness.

To enrich the visual frame, I prepared a tray with shaved ice replicas, a small basket, and lily flowers for the foreground. Photo 2 is one of my favorite shots from this set: centered composition with my gaze meeting the lens directly, where the dark brown thigh-high stockings and leg Stocking outfit showcase fantastic texture under the light, complemented by black shoes to make the leg silhouette appear longer and more slender. Adjusting the stocking creases and maintaining leg posture left my thighs somewhat numb from sitting, but the resulting photos were thoroughly rewarding.

During shooting, the afternoon sunlight poured softly through the paper shoji doors onto the wooden floorboards. To accommodate the curve of the skirt hem and wings, most poses were seated. Holding a book as if reading allowed for more natural, relaxed movement. Deep gratitude to Zhinv Jingjing for the meticulous costume craftsmanship and tailoring, which greatly elevated character fidelity—especially the rich, tangible layering of multi-tiered white lace along the skirt hem. Photographer Zhi Mengli was also constantly helping me search for the most flattering angles.

Due to limited time, the entire shoot moved at a brisk pace, but we perfectly caught the cherry blossoms in full bloom across the courtyard, adding a lovely touch of seasonal ambiance to the background. Looking at these props and finished photos makes me even more excited for future business adventures in Night Sparrow's Izakaya. Completing this set under natural light captured every detail—the fabric weave of the Lolita dress, the feathery layers of the wings, and the deep play of light and shadow across the Japanese garden—making it a truly fulfilling outdoor cosplay journey.
