[Flandre Scarlet Cosplay] Touhou Project swimsuit, red and white lace on the beach

This time shooting the swimsuit version of Flandre Scarlet, the location was chosen at the seaside. To present an atmosphere that fits the summer beach well, we put a lot of effort into the details of the clothing and props. The final styling decided upon has red and white as its main color tone. The upper body is a red halter-neck one-piece swimsuit, with white ruffles and lace sewn along the edges. Over it is layered a white-and-orange multi-tiered lace skirt hem, which sways gently with the sea breeze when walking. The wide-brimmed sun hat on the head is an absolute highlight of the styling, piled with a large amount of lace trims to create layering, and accented with red bows and flowers, taking up almost the visual center of gravity of the upper body.

In terms of makeup, to match the overall character settings, red circle lenses were worn, paired with golden-yellow slightly curled short hair. Since it was shot on an outdoor beach with extremely strong natural light, the base makeup was kept as translucent as possible, mainly highlighting the lip color to ensure the face still looks vibrant under the intense sunlight.

The most eye-catching prop should be the black circular device on the right arm, hanging four diamond-shaped gems in blue, green, purple, and yellow with extremely high color saturation. During the shoot, I sat on a wooden box, supporting my waist with my right hand while naturally raising my left hand with slightly curved fingers. This posture not only showcases the prop on the arm but also presents the leg lines. White lace leg rings were worn on the legs, adorned with ribbons and beaded pendants. In pursuit of an overall lightweight feel, the feet were barefoot, and white lace anklets with red heart accents were worn around the ankles.

The sunshine on the day of the shoot was exceptionally good, with beach chairs and orange-and-white striped beach towels serving as the background. Light and shadow fell on the wooden box and white lace, giving it a fantastic texture. Using a large-aperture lens for shooting blurred out the distant beach chairs and clutter, concentrating the visual focus on the subject. The shooting site was actually quite hot, especially wearing the complex layered skirt hem and lace sleevelets while having to maintain relaxed body postures and facial expressions on the beach. During breaks, I had to clean the sand stuck to the soles of my feet to avoid affecting the texture of the next set of shots. However, seeing the natural light outlining the layers of the clothes in the final photos made being sunburned for so long totally worth it. While retaining the character's recognizability, this styling combines the lightweight feel of a swimsuit, resulting in a clean overall image, with the red-and-white color scheme popping out against the backdrop of the blue sky and yellow sand.

Actually, when posing, to prevent the wide hat brim from casting shadows that are too deep on the face, I needed to constantly tilt my head up slightly to adjust the angle, allowing the face to face the light. The height at which the left hand is raised and the shoulder-neck line also required repeated micro-adjustments to strive to display the costume's tailoring in a natural state. There is a lot of lace on this outfit; to prevent it from being snagged by the wooden box when sitting down, every position adjustment was done very carefully. The striped beach towels on-site and the lounge chairs in the distance added a sense of daily life to the frame, keeping the subject from looking as rigid as in a studio shoot, and creating a relaxed vibe of truly vacationing by the sea. The entire shooting process spent quite a lot of thought on pose design and lighting coordination, hoping to completely convey this feeling.
