[Ishtar Cosplay] Goddess of Venus in Fate/Grand Order: Convention On-Site Chronicle

The convention photos are finally sorted out—this Ishtar outfit has been an absolute favorite of mine recently. Shooting at the Beijing convention involved rather chaotic ambient lighting, so we specifically scouted an area with strong top lighting; the resulting pitch-dark background made the character stand out brilliantly. The costume features an asymmetrical design in black, gold, and white, with the biggest highlight being the glossy over-the-knee stocking trimmed with gold ruffles, which was exceptionally eye-catching on camera. However, walking around the venue all day in this stocking and white high heels definitely took a toll on my feet.

The photoshoot process was quite demanding, especially holding that large silver circular disc prop with one hand while maintaining physical balance. To accentuate body proportions, the photographer had me continuously adjust angles, experimenting with raised-leg and forward-leaning poses over the course of nearly one to two hours. I gathered some valuable takeaways myself: when capturing a look featuring a short skirt paired with tall stockings, the leg movements must incorporate dynamic bends and extensions rather than a completely rigid, straight stance, which can otherwise look stiff. Furthermore, engaging the core and pulling the shoulders back makes the frontal silhouette appear far more upright and poised. The weight of the headpiece also requires attention—tilting the head slightly downward when moving prevents the wig from shifting under gravity.

The convention was packed with crowds, making open spots scarce. We initially hoped to frame a few wide shots against cleaner backdrops, but passersby kept crossing the frame. Nevertheless, the final convention photos turned out deeply satisfying: the dark background combined with the reflective sheen under the spotlight crisply carved out the golden lace detailing on the costume. The outfit's form-fitting silhouette—featuring chest cutouts with white lace and detached sleeves—carries immense character, and a slight three-quarter turn effortlessly accentuates the body lines. For makeup, I focused on fine-tuning the eyeshadow palette to complement the pink contact lenses, aligning my presence even closer to the original design. Looking through these photos now makes all the exhaustion from that day feel completely worthwhile.
