The goal of this photoshoot was very clear: to freeze-frame the sensation of soaring into the air at the exact moment of "3, 2, 1 jump!". To achieve the absolute levitation effect shown in the photos, we repeatedly adjusted the jumping power and timing in the studio. This wizard costume along with the broom prop is actually quite heavy, so maintaining body balance and expression control in mid-air definitely required some core strength.

Regarding the hair and makeup, the long golden curly hair needed to be styled fluffy and natural. Combined with the straight bangs and the braided details on the side, it closer resembles the familiar impression from Touhou Project. Although the hat looks extravagant, it was very stable during the shoot after multiple fixations, so there was no need to worry about it falling off when jumping.

The photographer @羡鱼 is incredibly skilled at capturing motion. To catch that split second in mid-air, we tried for quite a few rounds. The high-speed shutter froze the moment the skirt fluttered, creating a wonderful contrast of layers between the white ruffled petticoat and the star patterns on the black overcoat. The pure white studio background is very clean, perfectly highlighting the character and the golden hair, making the entire frame look transparent and bright.

We also meticulously studied the details of the broom prop; the black-and-white spiral-patterned handle combined with the orange-yellow broom bristles truly gives an illusion of casting magic when held in hand. Because the prop is quite large, when designing the jumping studio poses, we had to both prevent it from hitting the background behind me and allow it to become a visual extension. We spent a long time finding this balance point.

In fact, I usually do static standing poses more often, so stepping out of my comfort zone occasionally to try dynamic snapshots often yields a much more vivid effect. This styling inherently carries a sense of unrestrained playfulness, and the flying state perfectly conveys this energy-filled characteristic. Although the airborne moment lasts for only a fraction of a second, the muscle memory built up from warming up beforehand and the explosive power of each jump were ultimately frozen in the sound of the shutter.

To me, doing a good cosplay is not just about putting on the corresponding clothes, but more about expressing the character's demeanor and vitality through the lens. This collaboration with my partner went smoothly, and this dynamic photo serves as a wonderful conclusion to this attempt.
