[Komeiji Koishi cosplay] Abstract Anime Convention Stunts at Wenzhou THO: Mental State Today Is Way Too Beautiful

After wrapping up Wenzhou THO, looking back at the photos saved on my phone, these few pictures clearly summarize my mental state over the past half month. The principle of this Touhou-only convention focused on being completely free-spirited and utterly abstract. Right as I entered, I locked eyes on that giant inflatable figure, feeling an unexplainable synergy between it and my Komeiji Koishi cosplay outfit.

First about this styling: the outfit intentionally kept the iconic black hat adorned with flower decorations, paired classic mint-green hair with a black ruffled cape and top, while the green skirt on the lower half alongside Black stockings cosplay elements and round-toe platform boots offered high recognition on the convention floor. The wig was carefully styled with that large purple sphere ornament to recreate the original setting's eerie charm as much as possible, while retaining easy-to-wear everyday practical details. Photo 1 shows me messing around with plushies on a convention table—besides carrying vines and a full set of black Fumo plushies, I stuffed several oversized plush dolls and a prop sword with purple ornaments, grabbing a pink balloon to pull an exaggerated facial expression; this unhinged contrast perfectly fit my "completely letting go" mental state that day.

Photo 2 and Photo 3 became the highlight of this set. While strolling through Wenzhou THO, I spotted that giant inflatable creature and immediately rushed over for a shocked-face interactive pose. Just as I prepared to maintain this god-tier aura, less than two minutes after snapping the shot, the inflatable figure beside me began deflating violently for no apparent reason, shrinking from a behemoth next to me into a huge heap of fabric slumped on the floor in Photo 3 within a few short minutes. At that moment, I squatted on the ground holding my hat, bursting into helpless, crumbling laughter. You could say random Anime convention stunts and incidents are always the most hilarious—one second cool posing, the next second transforming directly into a comedian.

Many people asked if squatting next to a deflated inflatable prop in full attire felt embarrassing or ruined the experience, but for me, the greatest charm of cosplay lies precisely in this uncertainty that shatters the fourth wall. As a fan of Touhou Project, the atmosphere at Wenzhou THO was extremely friendly, with everyone being knowledgeable about memes and very welcoming. I exchanged prop-making insights with fellow enthusiasts and saw many fan creations for other characters; whether on-site scenic decorations or doujin booths, it allowed one to immerse deeply into a world only fellow fans understand.

The character Komeiji Koishi in Touhou Project inherently possesses an elusive secrecy and detached aura, which fits surprisingly well with these abstract Anime convention stunts. Although people often mention that the heavy skirt hem and black ruffles in this outfit are inconvenient for walking around, I actually feel this is part of the great fun in convention cosplay—capturing character aura from intricate costumes and layered fabrics, repeatedly jumping between the edges of reality and fantasy feels immensely satisfying.

Honestly, as a cosplayer who frequently attends conventions, I've slowly accepted my setting of constantly oscillating between an eccentric wild card and a normal person. Looking at my exaggerated expressions in the photos and recalling various unexpected moments at the venue that day, I feel this dressing experience was uniquely memorable. This year's Wenzhou event had a comfortable overall rhythm, with a spacious venue and great lighting. This share is mainly to keep a record; as for whether there will be even more outrageous Anime convention stunts in the future, that awaits the motivation and inspiration of the next convention.
