This Kirisame Marisa cosplay is brought to life based on my own understanding of that reckless yet magic-obsessed ordinary magician from the Touhou Project. When many people see this look, their first reaction is "looks like a baka." It's true; after all, her straightforward and occasionally silly personality in the original work is just so memorable. During the shoot, I often couldn't help but immerse myself in that relaxed vibe of "whatever, I'm just a baka magician anyway." For the costume, I specifically chose this classic black-and-white maid-style dress, paired with a wide-brimmed hat and a ruffled apron. To fit the setting of her frequently traversing the Magic Forest, the skirt was made with plenty of fluffiness so that whether sitting and playing with the Mini-Hakkero or standing with the broom, there is a light, floating movement. For the wig, I chose a warm golden-blonde color with long curls, braided on the side and tied with small white bows—this detail is my favorite, adding a touch of girlish playfulness. The shooting venue was a well-lit indoor exhibition hall, where the mixture of glass reflections and natural light made it easy to capture clean, clear images. As for the props, I hand-painted some gold edges and textures on the Mini-Hakkero, and the broom handle was wrapped with black anti-slip grip tape, giving it a solid weight in hand; the texture of these real props conveys a more solid character atmosphere in the photos. In the fourth picture, I added a magic circle and stardust special effects, which is my secondary creation of the grand and spectacular feeling when Marisa uses magic. In fact, cosplay is not just about dressing like the character; it's about bringing out their spirit—like her attitude of charging forward regardless of the consequences and her obsession with magic collections, which are hidden in every little movement. Throughout the shoot, I kept adjusting the light, shadow, and angles with the photographer, hoping to freeze that unique tension belonging to Touhou's Gensokyo. I hope everyone can feel the Kirisame Marisa in my heart through this set of photos.
