The theme of this shoot is Marisa Kirisame from Touhou Project. We chose a clockmaker's room and wooden study filled with vintage, nostalgic charm as our setting. The set was lined with diverse antique clocks and heavy books; this stacked clutter matched Marisa's lore as a magician who loves collecting miscellaneous junk and tomes. The metallic clocks and dried flowers in the background added a tangible sense of the passage of time to the overall composition in this Vintage photography work.

For the wardrobe, to embody the character's iconic image, I wore a complete matching costume set. The large black witch hat with white lace trim was eye-catching, creating a powerful visual impact alongside long golden wavy hair. The top featured a puff-sleeve blouse and black vest accented with purple ribbons and star decorations, while the lower half paired a ruffled white puff skirt with White stockings and black Mary Jane leather shoes, showcasing a vintage yet playful magical girl aesthetic.

We tackled several technical challenges during shooting. For instance, in the first photo featuring floating books, the photographer needed to capture the exact moment the book dropped or suspend it with guide wires to be removed in post-processing. To preserve authentic realism, we attempted several takes before achieving the most satisfying dynamic motion.

Another part involved interacting with an adorable white fuzzball (white cat prop). Holding it required careful control over hand pressure to avoid looking unnatural, repeating the motion of lifting and lowering it many times. To capture a playful smile, my energy remained lively throughout.

In lighting control, significant focus was placed on rendering the texture of the White stockings and legs. When shooting White stockings, overly intense lighting easily blows out highlights, while too dim light loses texture. The photographer adjusted the lighting angles, pairing softboxes with ambient light so the white stockings maintained translucency while the leg lines were clearly accentuated. The warm glow from the vintage wooden floor and the brassy reflections of the clocks in the background framed the subject beautifully.

Additionally, since I was seated on the wooden floor, arranging the skirt train was a crucial aspect of styling. To emphasize overall layered depth, we repeatedly adjusted the positioning of the white puff skirt and black vest to ensure proportions remained flattering while maximizing the visibility of the White stockings and shoe details.

With so many clocks throughout the set, the motif of time was palpable, so I incorporated dynamic poses like lifting books and props high to freeze that moment of magic taking effect and time standing still—harmonizing with Marisa Kirisame's spirited personality from Touhou Project. Although large poses were physically exhausting, the color palette and storytelling compositions of the final photos made for a very special Anime cosplay experience.

Every time I look back at these photos, the scent of wood from the floor and the chiming bells resonate in my mind. I hope this vintage charm comes through.
