For this nurse-themed shoot of Ryuge Kisaki, we chose a practical studio set up like a hospital ward. Because I rarely portray characters with uniform elements, I communicated extensively with photographer Xing Yu Meng in advance after reviewing the costume design, hoping to fully capture Kivotos's cool, slightly enigmatic atmosphere. Pre-shoot prep took considerable time, especially constructing the twin hair buns at the crown; they required repeated reinforcement with hairspray and bobby pins to support the navy nurse cap adorned with gold flame patterns and a red cross emblem. Moving away from an overly sweet makeup style, I applied a subtle reddish wash around the eyes to complement the cool-toned lighting, achieving a calm, professional visual presence.
The wardrobe layering is exceptionally defined. Beneath is a navy halter midriff top inspired by modified qipao silhouettes, with delicate trims and detailing. Draped over it is a black pinstriped blazer worn off-the-shoulder, perfectly framing the neck and collarbones while adding an effortless, tailored edge. The lower half features a white asymmetric mini skirt; its uneven hemline elongates the legs when paired with the character design. To complete the look, I wore black pointed-toe heels and white Stockings that took on a luminous, translucent texture under cool lighting. The white choker and the ID badge hanging at the chest served as essential props to reinforce her nurse identity, while the black clipboard proved pivotal for posing—enriching the composition and providing natural anchor points for hand placement.
Centering on Ryuge Kisaki's nurse concept, I prioritized harmonizing facial expression with body language. In the first shot, perched on the edge of the hospital bed with legs extended and center of gravity leaning slightly back, holding the clipboard across part of the torso with a direct gaze toward the lens showcased the full outfit while conveying authoritative command. In the second frame, bringing the clipboard close to the face with a more compact posture tightened the focus of my eyes. To avoid stiff posing, I kept the neck and shoulders relaxed, imagining a moment of pause right after completing patient rounds. Photographer Xing Yu Meng utilized a crisp blue-white key light; complemented by background greenery, the ward set felt clean and breathable.
The entire shoot progressed seamlessly. This session showed me how this hybrid nurse styling balances the austere discipline of professional uniforms with fantasy design flair. Relying on sharp tailoring, deliberate props, and precise light control rather than exaggerated poses brought the character's dimensional presence to life naturally. Packing up after a quick wrap, it felt like another thoroughly rewarding creative experience for Anime-style photography.
