This set of Arknights Dusk cosplay Cosplay photoshoot images is finally sorted out today. For this Garden exterior shoot, we chose the pavilions and covered corridors of a traditional garden, primarily drawn to the dark wooden pillars, flagstone paths, and lush greenery outside—an environment that perfectly complements Dusk's aloof, Chinese-style fantasy aura. When portraying characters like this, hair, makeup, and props are the absolute core. The wig features black hair with green highlights styled into a textured high ponytail. The rigid dragon-horn props on my head took quite a while to secure with hairspray and bobby pins to ensure the angles were well-balanced. The elf ears were also custom-made; blending them naturally with my skin tone is crucial, requiring careful adjustments every time they are worn.
The costume's texture is quite intricate: the white inner tunic features frayed edges resembling ink washes, with the red tassel on the chest serving as the visual focal point. The dark leather cape and arm guards have a substantial presence, though it also meant outdoor shooting in the summer was sweltering. Paired with black leather boots and the long white tail tipped with teal fur trailing behind, keeping my balance while walking and sitting required constant core engagement. In particular, the tail relied on an internal wire frame to hold its curved arch, so I had to be careful not to let it snag on pillars or bushes wherever I went. The greatsword and long blade in my hands carry considerable weight, with golden engravings on the scabbard. Frequently holding the sword or lifting the brush with one hand during the shoot took quite a toll on my wrists. The unfurled scroll was another tricky element; with any outdoor breeze, keeping it flat was tough and required careful angling. And as for the calligraphy brush, holding it even slightly wrong looked awkward, so I practiced suspending my wrist in front of the mirror countless times beforehand to make the posture look natural.
The photographer used a 35mm lens, which genuinely tests how well the subject interacts with the environment. Fortunately, this covered walkway offered excellent spatial depth, with stone balustrades and deep red wooden pillars acting as perfect foregrounds and natural frames. Pairing 35mm with a wide aperture smoothly blurred the background foliage into dimensional layers, making the subject immediately pop. Natural sunlight filtering through leaves dappled across the flagstones, creating rich textures with the interplay of light and shadow. Throughout the shoot, we constantly searched for the best lighting angles; because of the corridor ceiling, light contrast was stark in certain areas, requiring continuous adjustments to the direction my face was turned.
In terms of posing, I deliberately minimized large movements, focusing mainly on seated poses, leaning against structures, and slight head tilts. Because of the character's unique persona, her gaze needs to convey detachment and aloofness; whether looking at the camera or looking down while holding the calligraphy brush, I mentally channeled her role as an onlooker. For instance, when sitting on the bench, I let one leg drape naturally while bending the other slightly to bring out the tiered drape between boots and hemline. When leaning against a pillar, my posture relaxed slightly while tilting the sword, capturing a sense of post-battle respite beneath lingering mental alertness. In fact, what tests you most in an outdoor shoot isn't how striking a single movement looks, but whether the overall atmosphere remains cohesive. For seated shots, leg placement must not only flatter body lines, but also create a seamless connection between the dress hem and tall boots. Although moving outdoors in this gear was physically demanding, with mosquitoes in the garden and the wig and leather layers making me sweat constantly, seeing the interplay of light and shadow in the final shots—and how well the sword and scroll harmonized with the classical architecture—made all the effort feel worthwhile. I hope this series allows everyone to experience a unique Garden exterior Chinese-style fantasy ambiance.
