The collaboration between Arknights and Ave Mujica was truly an unexpected surprise. When I saw the news, as a cosplayer of Sakiko Toyokawa, I immediately started planning this shoot. The overall look this time adopted a color tone interwoven with deep blue and black, which perfectly fits the character's cool yet internally powerful feel. The wig is a misty blue with a slight sheen, which, paired with the iconic black curved sheep horns on top of the head, immediately brings out the visual tension.
We communicated with the photography team for a long time regarding the setup of the shooting scene. Utilizing blue tulle to create an enveloping sense resembling a blend of stage curtains and dreams, combined with white Roman columns and blue-and-white floral embellishments, cultivated a gorgeous yet mysterious atmosphere. Those few perspectives of sitting on the sofa deliberately captured the contrast between low angles and high-angle overhead shots. In the interplay of light and shadow, the asymmetrical tailoring details on the costume can be seen more clearly, along with those silver chain decorations wrapped around the chest, which are both exquisite and logically consistent with the character's styling logic on stage.
The biggest challenge of this shoot was actually controlling the layers of light and shadow. We used some warm-toned fill lights as ambient reflections hitting the dark leather boots and black long socks, instantly elevating the texture. During post-processing color grading, the saturation of blue was treated with restraint, hoping to preserve that deep but not overly flamboyant visual effect. This is not just about completing a character replica; I hope this Cosplay sharing can transmit that exact stage mood belonging to Ave Mujica through the photos. The character Sakiko Toyokawa herself carries a lot of complex sense of destiny. In the process of interpretation, I also tried my best to amplify that confidence and occasionally revealed vulnerability through the lens's gaze. This atmosphere of wandering between reality and illusion is precisely the creative inspiration this collaboration brought to me. Wearing this heavy stage outfit among the floor-length tulle drapes, I felt as if I had truly walked into that mysterious band world for this piece of Stage-style photography.
