This shoot in Chongqing truly captured Muelsyse's aura—a blend of mystery with a touch of whimsical eccentricity. The venue, known as a must-visit spot among Arknights fans, is actually an indoor space illuminated by an immense skylight. The radiating white curved arches overhead resemble the ribcage of some colossal leviathan or a docking bay straight out of a sci-fi film. Natural light poured down from above like a giant softbox, while the surrounding dark walls and concrete stairways created a powerful contrast between light and shadow.

To complement this austere, futuristic architectural space, we put considerable thought into the props and costume. The bright green umbrella served as the visual anchor for the entire composition. Because the ambient palette was dominated by black, white, and gray, without high-saturation colors on the character, one could easily get swallowed by the backdrop. Green not only aligns with Muelsyse's signature motifs but also echoes the neon-green straps on her outfit. The uniquely styled figurine prop I held was also prepared specifically before the shoot to enrich the storytelling and sense of interaction. Under the strong light, the fabric textures held up beautifully—the folds of the coat and the clean cut of the black shorts were crisply defined by the shadows.

The shoot was actually self-captured, meaning I had to continuously adjust my posture in front of the lens while simultaneously managing the framing and remote shutter. Standing on the stairs, I tilted my head slightly upward, utilizing the building's structural depth to elongate my silhouette. To capture dynamic action, I experimented with standing on one leg and executing slight leaps, allowing the hem of the skirt and the umbrella canopy to catch natural momentum in the air. Operating solo meant calculating the exact timing between triggering the remote and returning to position; nailing the perfect jumping frame took multiple takes and burned quite a bit of stamina.

Controlling the light was the primary focus of this shoot. Harsh overhead illumination can easily blow out facial highlights, so I positioned myself near the edges of the light falloff, using diffused ambient reflections to illuminate my face while preserving shadow detail in the costume. Framed by dark foreground elements, the silhouette had to remain exceptionally sharp. To prevent overhead light from casting heavy shadows beneath my brow bone and nose, I made numerous angle adjustments, ensuring my face angled toward the diffused light sources. The entire process was a real test of stamina and patience—especially balancing dynamically on the steps in platform boots. But seeing the finished photos, where that splash of vibrant green stands out amidst the cool-toned architecture with stage-like composition, made every bit of effort worthwhile. This location in Chongqing certainly lives up to its reputation; both its geometric lines and lighting conditions are extraordinarily well-suited for sci-fi or cyberpunk themes. Leveraging natural architectural lines and bold light-and-dark contrasts can yield photos with incredible depth even without complicated lighting gear.
