At the Hangzhou Arknights Only convention, I finally got to showcase my long-anticipated Closure cosplay! Preparing for these Convention photos took considerable advance effort. The wig featured delicate blue highlights, cut and textured into layered strands by a stylist to capture that slightly tousled yet sharp efficiency unique to the Rhodes Island Engineering Department. I wore vivid red lenses paired with a cool, downward gaze, hoping to reflect Closure's calculating shrewdness and combat readiness in this Arknights portrayal.
For the attire, I chose a Tactical style outfit that leaned into high-functionality aesthetics. A graphic white tank top layered under a black tactical vest, paired with utility shorts, intricate harness belts, and tactical thigh straps—dialing tactical coolness up to the maximum. The signature props were the vintage orange walkie-talkie across my chest and the orange-trimmed utility briefcase in my hand. Tracking down this specific case took weeks of hunting through secondhand markets; the moment I gripped it, I felt completely possessed by the spirit of the Engineering Department's resident merchant.
The lighting conditions on set were incredible; photographer Nord set up horizontal red laser ambient lights beforehand. Striking dynamic poses under this high-saturation, direct crimson glow demanded intense physical control. In the first shot—leaning forward while reaching toward the camera—we repeated the motion several times to freeze the exact instant the hair billowed in the air, creating a dangerous and manic edge that felt spot-on. In the second shot—crouching while communicating over the walkie-talkie—I continuously adjusted my balance to accentuate leg lines and tactical gear, finding the most flattering angles for these Convention photos.
Walking the convention floor in this complete setup wasn't easy, as the straps and gear required constant adjustment. Yet the on-site atmosphere was amazing, filled with passionate Doctors. Seeing the case and radio, fellow fans immediately came over to interact, and many recognized my Closure cosplay right away, bantering about hilarious Engineering Department lore. That authentic offline community connection was truly rewarding.
When cosplaying characters with tactical themes, I prefer capturing dynamic motion rather than static posing—such as striding with the case in hand or glancing down while fiddling with the walkie-talkie. Closure is not merely a witty merchant; she is Rhodes Island's indispensable technical pillar. Portraying her vibrant, cunning, yet thoroughly dependable nature was something I reflected upon continuously. The worn scuffs on the props and the detailed webbing straps all helped me immerse fully into character.
