For shooting this Nahida Cosplay as the Lesser Lord Kusanali from Genshin Impact, choosing this suburban forest was a very fitting starting point. This shoot mainly aimed to showcase the character's natural affinity and elf-like lightness, so the entire session was conducted outdoors for Forest photography. In terms of makeup, to avoid looking unnatural, the foundation was applied sheerly, focusing on the blue-green gradient eye makeup and false eyelashes, paired with pointed Elf ears to accentuate non-human features. Styling the wig was quite time-consuming, requiring a smooth blend between the silver-white hair strands and the green gradient to shape the graceful curve of the elf bun. Costume materials and details were also central to faithful recreation; the green leaf totem across the chest used special craftsmanship that shimmered softly under light, while the white dress hem was ultra-light, fluttering naturally whenever the breeze blew.
This shoot was genuinely a test of the photographer's dynamic snapshot capabilities. Because the dappled light filtering through leaves and the Tyndall effect were fleeting, we had to seize the exact moments when sunlight pierced through the forest canopy. I tried various poses, such as resting with closed eyes against a tree trunk, raising both hands to reach for vines, and standing amid tall grass letting the skirt drape naturally. To convey the character's blend of wisdom and a touch of childlike innocence, I made many adjustments in demeanor—for example, the final shot with a wink and one hand framing a viewfinder, paired with a slight head tilt, brought a lively charm to the image.
Although the entire process involved walking back and forth through dense grass and enduring mosquito bites, seeing the light and shadow effects in the final shots made it all worthwhile. Since Nahida's aura is inherently serene, I subconsciously slowed down my movements and regulated my breathing to harmonize with the environment. Without complex, heavy props, this look tested the mastery of the character's demeanor even more, requiring me to imagine the authentic feelings of the character within a wise, nature-infused world. Prior to shooting, we scouted locations for a long time, specifically seeking spots with dense canopies and dappled sunlight to use the natural green halos for ambient rendering. Walking on grassy patches and earthen slopes in shorts and lightweight shoes meant constantly minding footing safety while maintaining graceful posture. Overall, connecting with the character of the Lesser Lord Kusanali went very smoothly, and I hope these photos convey her quiet, natural vitality.
