[Nahida Cosplay] The Agility of Forest and Wisdom: A Genshin Impact Character Shooting Log

Standing on a stone platform shaded by green trees, holding that round green Dendro Slime plush doll in my arms while sunlight filtered through the leaves overhead, casting dappled light and shadows, I was completing the shoot in this Nahida costume.

First, let's talk about the makeup and styling details. The white wig is one of the visual focal points of this look, with the wig ends dyed in a gradient transition from pure white to teal green to match the character design. Head accessories include hair clips with green leaf shapes and golden hollow patterns. To make the pointed elf ears look natural and vivid for this Elf ears cosplay setup, I used ear cuffs with high skin-tone transparency, combined with a slight reddish gradient at the tips, giving the entire face a delicate and vibrant look. The main body of the outfit is a green-and-white paneled design; the dark fabric on the chest is covered with fine gold-outlined patterns and feels relatively soft. The white skirt hem on the lower half features intricate hollow textures with excellent drape and layering, maintaining an elegant outline even in sitting or side-lying poses.

Location shoots are often more challenging than studio photography. This set of Outdoor cosplay photography shots was decided after discussion between photographer Rina and me to take place in a natural outdoor environment. Shooting took place in the early afternoon when sunlight was quite strong, which presented a challenge for facial lighting, but unexpectedly allowed the character to blend into the crisscrossing tree shadows, demonstrating a deep harmony between Lesser Lord Kusanali and natural elements. For composition and posing, we chose a side-lying pose on the stone platform with legs stretching out naturally to showcase the outfit's overall color palette and leg lines within the frame. The arm position holding the prop was also adjusted repeatedly to avoid blocking unnecessary body features while ensuring the Dendro Slime doll's eyes and smiling expression faced the lens directly, appearing lively and cute.

In portraying this character, I intentionally avoided overly outgoing or hyperactive movements. Because Nahida represents a sense of composure and wisdom beyond her age in the story, I tried using calm eyes and relaxed body language to capture that serenity. Even in a bright outdoor setting, this quiet demeanor could be conveyed through the lens, minimizing excessive emotional jumps to stay as true as possible to her core personality. Although the outfit fabric looked textured on camera, the high summer temperature combined with fabric breathability was quite physically demanding. However, seeing natural light outline highlights along leaves and skirt edges made the sense of achievement completely outweigh the exhaustion of the shoot.

Prop preparation was another focal point of this shoot. To pair with this outfit, I specifically prepared that teal-green slime plush doll. Featuring embroidered spiral textures and a simple smile, topped with two yellow leaf decorations, its soft material served well as an interactive prop without looking out of place in the frame. Before and during shooting, I constantly adjusted the plush doll's orientation and angle to ensure it continually faced the light source for unified overall light and shadow.

As a Cosplayer, every time I recreate a highly recognizable character, I need to find a balance between styling, expression, and environment. This location shoot was not only a cosplay presentation, but also a glimpse into understanding the character's inner core. Even without grand special effects, relying on natural light supplements and the costume's own details could bring a fantasy character into real-world light and shadow. The entire process recorded many unexpected moments, such as hair strands blown by the wind or light spots accidentally entering the frame—these authentic environmental reactions became irreplaceable parts of the photos.
