This Narukami Group photo set was shot in the Japanese-style realistic set of Sanmiao Tongxue Photography Studio. The red and white torii structure, the hanging paper lanterns with "Kanai Anzen" (family safety) written on them, and the wooden lattice doors all recreated the shrine atmosphere of the Inazuma region to a large extent.
Attention to costume details was the focus of our early preparation. The light pink outfit I'm wearing features her iconic fox ears on top, and the metal ornaments by the ears catch the studio lighting beautifully. The upper body features an asymmetrical off-the-shoulder design paired with a black undergarment, creating a striking color-contrast layer with the red sash on the lower body. During the shoot, the texture of the wig was crucial; the studio lighting was very soft, preserving the natural flow of the pink strands while making facial contours look much sharper.
On the other side, the deep blue character's costume leans more towards a fusion of cool tones. The combination of white, blue, and purple, paired with the black-and-gold pauldrons on her shoulders and the red tassels dangling from her choker, makes for an eye-catching design. Her long boots, combined with these heavily draped sleeves, create a unique contrasting beauty against the shrine setting.
During the shoot, we experimented with various compositions. Photo 5, showing our backs together, is a personal favorite of mine. Standing in front of the shrine's hemp rope and bronze bell, the red pillars and lanterns in the background create a perfectly symmetrical frame. Wearing thick-soled wooden clogs (geta), our posture matched this dignified sense of ritual perfectly, instantly giving the characters' dimension-transcending aura a concrete form.
Photo 6 is a true reflection of our breaks during the shoot. Wearing these Japanese-style clothes and geta, standing and posing for a long time is actually quite physically demanding. That head-patting interaction was just a natural moment during a relaxed state; it wasn't intentionally staged, making the atmosphere between us look even more relaxed and natural. This state of "taking a breather" inside the studio set actually fits perfectly with the characters' casual daily lives in their lore.
Aside from the styling and scenery, collaborating with photographer @ć˘ć嚸 was also a wonderful experience. His control over light, shadow, and composition is very rigorous. When shooting this scene dominated by red, white, and wood colors, he paid special attention to color temperature, preventing the red paint and white lanterns from looking too harsh, instead preserving a warm-toned atmosphere. Furthermore, when taking close-ups and medium shots, he intentionally avoided distracting environmental lines, allowing the visual focus to land completely on the characters' facial expressions and costume textures.
Although this photography set was completed in a studio, the detailed realism of the setâincluding the stone steps, bamboo, and even the handwritten text on the lanternsâprovided a great foundation for this Genshin Impact cosplay creation. Translating the outfits of 2D characters into 3D reality, and then recreating them through photographic light and shadow, is a process full of creative joy in itself.
